One candidate for Most Eye-Assaulting Website of the Year is for a "museum" that provides an "educational adventure" in the vein of Ken Ham's Creation Museum.  It's called "The World's Biggest Dinosaurs Museum." Now watch this. The website places degreed physicians at the top of their claims that "the theory of Darwinian evolution is fundamentally and fatally flawed." Benjamin S. Carson M.D. ("one of the world's most foremost pediatric neurosurgeons") is chief of pediatric neurosurgery at ...

Pray For The Victims

It’s an unpopular topic in many circles, but in the aftermath of the devastating tornado that ravaged Moore, Oklahoma (and the countless Facebook posts that have followed), I want to say something on the subject of prayer. I completely understand why so many people invoke God and prayer during these terrible times. When I was a Christian, it was a reflex, and had I witnessed such destruction and loss of life, I would have undoubtedly encouraged others to pray. “Pray for the wounded, ...

(Another) Letter to the Religious on this Page

This post originally appeared on the TTA Facebook page.  It was so popular, the letter has been reposted here.  The "safe haven for atheists" aspect of the letter speaks more to our social media pages than the main website, but the larger message about the proselytizers stands.  -Seth ___ Dear Religious People On This Page: I feel the need to, again, make sure you haven't accidentally landed here instead of Answers In Genesis. (No doubt some of you were puzzled at the lack of sing-song pla...

The Fool

PSALM 14:1 - "The fool says in his heart there is no God."  Non-believers hear this charge frequently from Christians, and it carries about as much credibility as "I know you are...but what am I?" I can understand why this is such an attractive retort from the faithful to the atheist.    It uses its own book to validate itself, making broad claims about salvation and judgment (which is much like quoting from Harry Potter books to warn humankind against the sinister snares of Voldemort)....

That's right. Besides that, if you don't believe in Gosh, where do you get your morals?  Only Gosh can come from nothing, so who made everything in the Universe?  I don't need proof of Gosh, I can just feel It exists in my heart.  Don't burden yourself with all that thinking and just have faith in Gosh.  Evolution is a lie from the pits of Heck.  Goshdidit.  I don't know how stuff works and I'm too lazy or willfully ignorant to use Google, therefore Gosh.  It's so arrogant to not bel...

A Letter to a Christian Mother

I contiue to be amazed when I see Christian women defending a bible that denigrates women.  And recently, I found myself in another discussion with a devoutly Christian mother of five who defiantly brandished her faith and lamented my own fall from grace. I presented her with a form letter I sometimes use in these discussions, customizing a few lines to fit her specific situation.  In my opinion, the letter is a powerful tool, because it briefly presents scenarios regarding women (and chil...

Women in Islam

How perverse are Muslims! For Muslims are the vilest of animals. So show mercy to one another, but be ruthless to Muslims. Fight those Muslims who are near to you. Muslim mischief makers should be murdered or crucified. Strike off the heads of Muslims, as well as their fingertips. That's some pretty nasty hate speech, isn't it? If you find that terribly offensive, you're absolutely right to do so. And no, I didn't come up with that myself. I'll give you the source for those lines in a mom...

Non-Believers Have Rights

As the number and presence of nonbelievers grows, so do the number of cases in which we hear of fellow nonbelievers facing discrimination. Nonbelievers do have rights other than freedom of religion, and some of those rights are laid out in the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which was generally established to protect minorities. (For those outside the U.S., you might be protected by similar rights in your own country. I've included links for the U.K. and Canada at the bottom of this post, as well. ...

David, a TTA page user, recently shared a letter he sent to his loved ones informing them that he no longer believed in God.  In the document, he meticulously presented his reasons.  With his permission, I'm sharing the letter here, because it may help others in the same situation to articulate their own positions to family and friends. -Seth___ Dear Friends and Family As most of you know, I have been a believer in God, Christ and the Bible since confessing my faith at Word of Life Bible Ca...

Hacking Westboro

If I may, I want to address the recent hacking into the Westboro computers and the publishing of each member's personal information. As we stand for reason and rationality, I'm convinced that we should, we must, operate on a tempo that 1)  stays within the law 2) does not violate a citizen's right to privacy, even in regards to society's lowest common denominators and 3) doesn't taint the rest of us. There are ways to combat and defeat the abomination that is Westboro Baptist Church that...
