25 Years Ago Today 1st Website Went Online
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/worl...efe0d5e88c

I bought my first computer not too long after that, which was a Tandy 1000. I found my first forum, a gardening forum and then a writing forum. I loved that and didn't even look for others for about 3 years.

I learned to shop online at JC Penny's and paid my first bill online with them too.

It wasn't until 2010 that I finally hooked up with my first atheist forum. Wow, what a moment in time that was. It was the first time I was ever really aware that atheist were vilified in our country and that separation of church and state was under attack politically. From that moment on I was a political activist.

Thank you Tim Berners-Lee!

It has changed the world and I think it's changed it for the better. One of the greatest things in my lifetime to come along. I've enjoyed the comaraderie of my fellow atheists sooooo much and without the web it wouldn't be possible. Thumbsup

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

I agree with that so much! Thumbsup

The whole world at your fingertips. I do have to remind myself sometimes to go out into the real world though. Blush I can be a bit anti-social or maybe just a situational introvert at times. Sad

Wow! 25 years ago I was still trying to figure out how to use a fax machine. I got my first computer about 15 years ago. It still amazes me the amount of information one has at one's fingertips.

25 years ago I was in kindergarten, singing songs about triangles and bicycles.

I applied to a job that required knowing how to use a computer in 1985. I had zero idea how to even turn one on!

Luckily my cousin had just purchased a Macintosh 128k https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh and he was kind enough to show me the basics so I was able to say I knew how to “use” one with a straight face Big Grin

I hardly remember what life before PCs was like.

Mine was an early Tandy from Radio Shack too - it had a cassette recorder to record data and a cradle for the phone receiver so you could make a call to another computer, which was charged by the minute.

There were people using their computers to put websites online - they were called Bulletin Boards and were sort of like message boards. You had to devote a phone line to them.

I'll never forget the sound of a connecting modem....

And 24 years, 364 days, 23 hours, and 59 minutes ago the first dick pic was sent, thereby inventing internet porn.
