3 Ways to Persuade an Atheist to Become Christian
http://www.wikihow.com/Persuade-an-Athei...-Christian

My favorite part:

"Before starting a discussion, you must expect that they have a non-religious orthodoxy with their evidence aligned in their favor, as they see it, regarding origins from the vacuum of space, universe and life from a black hole, from nothing but (mindless) energy changing to matter by no plan, yet results so astonishing, with no design -- matter "rattling around" to create all the orderly, interdependent processes -- as the basis of theories of origins (unobservable stuff but treated as if it's knowable and logical...)."

RE: 3 Ways to Persuade an Atheist to Become Christian
Quote:If they are interested in talking about the Gospel, then do it. However, don't take every opportunity to inject your beliefs in detail. It becomes quickly annoying and counterproductive.
I'm sorry, how is this an instructional text? By this measure they are effectively saying to never talk about their religion.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Don't knock it.

Let's hope it catches on.

It amazes me how Christians misrepresent cosmology & science !
Especially William Lane Craig - completely misinformed the audience, twists scientists words & misquoting.

I'm actually listening to the audio of:
Our Mathematical Universe: My Quest for the Ultimate Nature of Reality by Tegmark, Max (7 Jan 2014)

This book - written by a brilliant scientist who has both theoretical & practical discoveries (eg lots of work on mapping the background cosmic microwave radiation) deals with many of the topics involved in cosmology - and God is just utterly irrelevant. (no claim that God doesn't exist - just unnecessary hypothesis)

One thing I like about Max Tegmark is his honesty - the book starts of with well known cosmology, discovering the size of the universe and its age in its current form. Then discusses cosmic inflation & quantum mechanics and areas which are beginning to be understood, what the evidence is both mathematically & empirically - but knowing that further research or better measurement techniques are required to refine the science. Then towards the end he does speculate alternative scenario's for origins or eternal process producing universes - however the key is admitting there is no problem not knowing & quest to find out - not on faith but using mathematics & empirical evidence.
Yes some of the ideas towards the end sound far fetched or counterintuitive - but it was counterintuitive to discover we were sitting on a small bluish stone orbiting an insignificant star on one of the arms of the milky way galaxy surrounded by hundreds of billions of other galaxies - not the centre.

All Max Tegmark is saying is that we are extending the Copernican revolution with new cosmological discoveries.

The theist sees a gap in scientific knowledge and then says "God did it" putting an end to all research because "God works in mysterious ways, His thoughts are not yours" - Stop questioning, your a sinner, believe.
