7 Earth-like planets found
7 Earth-like planets found orbiting star 39 light-years from Earth

From the article:
Quote:Scientists have discovered what looks the best place so far where life as we know it may exist outside our own solar system.

Seven Earth-sized planets, all of which could contain water, have been found orbiting a small star 39 light-years away.

"We have made a crucial step toward finding if there is life out there," said Amaury Triaud, co-author of the study. "I don't think any time before we had the right planets to discover and find out if there was.

"Here, if life managed to thrive … then we will know. Before, it was indication; now, we have the right target."

Listening to the press conference right now, so awesome that there could be water and some are in the Goldilocks zone. That said, I want to smack the next scientist to use the words "Let me show you on Eyes on Exoplanets"; you're not good at shilling your own app NASA.

Need to think of a witty signature.

Awesome! How cool would that be if three or four of these show the signatures of life?

That doesn't help their case, but there could be a thin, livable zone between the day and night sides of the planet where the temperatures aren't too extreme.

Or better yet have a wide livable zone in the middle of the day side.

Depending on how close the planet is to it's star, that could be possible too.
If too close it would probably be much too hot to support life.

In this case we apparently have 3 to choose from. E, F and G.

Engineering the greenhouse gas content to put it where we want it could also be an option.

A big plus for this type of system is the long term stability of this kind of star. Around here we've got a few billion years tops before Sol toasts us. A star like Trappist-1 could be stable enough to maintain life on its planets for a trillion years.

Save a life. Adopt a greyhound.
