RE: A Crossroad: An email to a church member
Hey KingsChosen,

I have only been able to get through about 3/4ths of this thread, but I am rushed to leave at the moment and would like to drop a reply.

I think you are making a good choice in what your letter described. And this isn't my coercive opinion as an atheist, but just my opinion as a person. I find it very important to fill your life with the things that give your life meaning. If you don't feel a church contributes to your life in a worthwhile way, then I don't see a reason to force it.

I actually find it very honorable to follow your own path on these matters. If you are going to believe, then really thinking about what you believe is true, moral, good, and constructive and basing your decision on that, is very respectable. On the other hand following the mob thoughts of churches or charismatic leaders does not earn the same level of respect (from me at least).

Well I need to go, but ...........................................................

I agree with Adrianime above and would like to add that I think it shows tremendous strength of character to handle this situation so carefully and thoughtfully. I see kindness in your desire to exit this situation without leaving people hurt behind you.

My respect for you has increased. Thumbsup

Don't pace. Go for a walk or something. Go shoot something?

Silence is a pretty strong response. You may find your answer in that that silence.

You know, my mother is similar to you in this regard. She has had so dominantly negative experiences with churches and the hypocrisy of their members in her life that even if she was to convert to Christianity, she would never attend at a church again.
