A Misfiring of Caring

Following up on my thread about not being able to empathise with someone who had "come back to faith", (thanks for the responses to that btw, even though very few addressed my question (and in fact most addressed the question for which I stated that I didn't need answers ... in normal TTA fashion )) ... I've been considering my general disposition to fail to suspend disbelief.

Fortunately, this stream of thought has led me to discover that I'm not a psychopath ... just low in empathy.

Here is a fascinating interview with Megan Phelps-Roper who left the WBC.

The comparisons with ISIS are thought-provoking as are the references to tenderness before execution of homosexuals and how an initial, empathetic desire to protect vulnerable members of society materialises as bigotry when filtered through the doctrines of scripture.
