Goddam dude, I usually just ignore S.T.'s posts because I ain't got an hour or more to devote to his minutiae. But I'm glad you did and I'm glad I took the time to read your response. It's fucking beautiful. Makes me look forward to the time when me and my wife are looking at 42 years together. ... only 17 to go! Wink

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

The first 40 are the hardest. After that it's a piece o' cake. Wink

Religious disputes are like arguments in a madhouse over which inmate really is Napoleon.

Wait, I thought I only had to get through the 7 year itch. Wait, I thought the first 10 were the hardest. Wait, I thought the first 20 were the hardest. Wait, I thought the first 30 were the hardest. ... Wait, nah you're just fucking with me.

Yeah, and all I did was add God and the concept of a postmortem preservation of identity to that list. My offspring took to it. Would've been disappointed if they didn't.

Jesus Christos?!? From a very young age? Really? Where the fuck does that vile shit even come from at a very young age? You sure as hell weren't born hating homosexuals.

I've never felt anything at all wrt homosexuals. As long as you're not trying to stick your dick into me, my wife, or my offspring, why should I even give a shit? It's none of my concern. ... none of my business.

It originates from the fucking bible. (Or the Koran). And you don't even have to read the bloody thing to have had your thinking poisoned by the bible because the "ethics" it promotes have permeated into our cultures and almost taken on a life of their own.

The ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians, uninfluenced by the bible, had no issues with homosexuality, nor do today's Chinese or Japanese, who , by the way, don't have screwed up ideas about sexuality, promiscuity and virginity either.

I don't have the statistics on this but I would put money on the fact that the USA, the most Christian developed country in the world, is also the most homophobic...although Egypt or Turkey or Iran or Israel may be. Anyone know any statistics?

What about you ST....you have firm opinions about homosexuality...you've gone rather quiet? I think you owe an apology to cufflink, are you big enough to give it?

I guess it just didn't take for me then, Mark. Read the whole goddam KJV cover to cover by the age of 12. Reread it as the RSV by the age of 14. Never felt any antipathy whatsover against homosexuals my entire life irrespective of my reading list. Housed one of my son's friends from 16-18 yo until he went away to college after his mother kicked him out after finding gay porn on his computer (they're Nigerian but not particularly religious so I think it was more of a cultural bias for her than a religious one). He has since turned into a fine young man and we're still very good friends with him a decade later. (I mean he does like to grab my ass while shaking my hand when greeting but I just consider it a term of endearment and reciprocate. Smile)

I know the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, Mark. To me the lesson is about gang rape not homosexuality. Had they taken Lot up on his offer of his two virgin daughters and gang raped them instead would they have then been found "righteous" and spared?

I'm also familiar with Leviticus 20:13, but shit, doesn't everybody just ignore Leviticus by now? I mean nobody lives by it in its entirety. I mean who the hell could? I consider Leviticus to be Leviticrap.

Homosexuality is like being left handed. Us lefties are just wired differently than you righties. Society persecuted and tried to change us for centuries with about the same level of success as it can expect from trying to change homosexuals. I'm not necessarily a big fan of actively promoting atheism (or any particular metaphysics for that matter - it's a very individual and personal matter as far as I'm concerned) but I am a big fan of actively identifying bigotry and fighting that. Sometimes even to the point where I can appreciate the tactics preferred by Hamata k, the troll of justice.

I heard that the rapture happened and as it turned out he was right. So was theo, and jesus christ... and whatever other theists we had lurking for the moment.
