RE: A Question of Order
Not his argument. He's quoting someone else.

Is this colleague trying to infer a divine creator based on the order of the universe? If so, let's not forget to add all the god-inspired variations in biological life forms to the list, like birth defects, fingernails, and butt hair.

If Jesus died for our sins, why is there still sin? If man was created from dust, why is there still dust? If Americans came from Europe, why are there still Europeans?

Only in an orderly universe will the other shoe drop. Smartass

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

There IS order.
The premise is false.

Was there order before there were human beings to perceive it?

Because order can come from chaos.

How can anyone become an atheist when we are all born with no beliefs in the first place? We are atheists because we were born this way.

The question is kind of like, "If you've had sex with fifteen children, then why aren't you a pedophile?" Well... I haven't had sex with ANY children (I just want to make that perfectly clear Cool ) so the question is meaningless.

Seriously, why would you feel the need to bring that up as an example--of all the other examples you could have used, that one popped into your head first. You brought out the topic, then denied it vehemently.

Me, personally, I think you're wearing your subconscious on your sleeve. Parapraxis much.

Quote:Who exactly is claiming that there's no order? I've heard neither Theists nor Atheists making that claim.

Peace and Love and Empathy,

You sounded just like Michael with that closing. Weeping

Or better asked by saying, "If order were to fall in the woods and no one was there to hear it, would it still make a sound?"

Yes. The order is not a product of our perception. Our perception mechanisms are the product of the order.
