Libet started some fuck up shit. Some of the more pussy cognitive scientists still have hope that while "free will" may be an illusion created by the hordes in the gut ecosystem for their own selfish purposes, at least we still have "free won't". We at least retain veto power over the consensus decision of the subconscious body politic, goddamit. Except of course, we don't.

"Thoughts simply arise in the brain. What else could they do? The truth about us is even stranger than we may suppose: The illusion of free will is itself an illusion." - Sam Harris doing a bad Hunter S. Thompson

#sigh

RE: A couple of Neuroscience papers detailing wierd shit
Turned out that I have developed several lesions in my corpus callosum over the last few years and I never noticed. I certainly noticed when a new lesion appeared on my spine. The corpus callosum is considered a silent area to have lesions. It's the fibres connecting the two hemispheres. I've spent my life exercising my brain in every way possible, so even though I was developing lesions, I was also developing the parts of the brain that were not being degraded. I don't know how much more effectively I could have learnt the skills that I have if I did not have those lesions because I can't re-run the experiment and make comparisons. It is probable though that I have mentally slowed down, but that could also be because of fatigue, over-work, stress, boredom etc. The point is that it is difficult to make definitive statements about how a brain is affected and why because there are so many other things having an influence on it.
