There is indeed a huge mentality of "the current system is the best we can do".
That very attitude stops progress. If we're not willing to try new things in order to improve society, then why are we even practicing politics anymore.

I am just saying that politics and the economy can be changed to improve society. (or harm society). unlike the law of gravity, which cant be changed. these "laws" on politics and the economy can be changed. IMHO politics and economies are just religions. their believers absolutely show no flexibility and claim to shine the true path, if you believe in them.
