RE: A disgusting example of lying for Jesus
In holding that love must be extended eternally for 'the good', in order for true grief to be possible, Dunbar extends real love beyond all aspects of how love develops and simply degrades both love and grieving.

The hidden premise in his ridiculous article could well be a Hell for those not according with god's plan which would add to the suffering of those unfortunate believers left behind.

This sort of stuff should really drive thinking Christians from their parish in droves.

I have to give them credit, they got it exactly right!
The last decade or so has seen a great resurgence of radical skepticism not only about God - the "new atheism" – but also about Man. It is skepticism updated with reductionist attempts to explain human existence and experience, thought and feeling, in terms of matter alone. The mainstream view trumpeted in the "intelligent" media is that the moral sense, love, and reason are really just survival mechanisms developed in the course of human evolution. The mind is just the tool of a social primate developed in order to give it a competitive edge in procreation. As the effort of 'the selfish gene' to replicate itself, the mind can have no inherent claim on our loyalty. And God is just another construct, one which we would do well to discard.

The old gods are dead, let's invent some new ones before something really bad happens.

Stupid book talks about how they'll hand out titles to each other, and there's the reverend canon doctor. Worshiping death, as is their wont. Distilling from grief the bitter potion of remonstration, a life only lived to be served up in exploitation. Yawn. It's what they do.

RE: A disgusting example of lying for Jesus
Can someone post this there:

Both believers and atheists have feelings and emotions. An atheist mother loves her children in the same way as a religious mother loves, that is called biology of human body and it has nothing to do with religion or spirituality of people. When a person dies, those who cared about that person feel loss, because that person is no longer with them.

Believers - believe in God, eternity and afterlife, that means your soul goes to a better place when you die and you live in Heaven forever. After we die, we can all be reunited and live together forever. I think that is the reason for celebration, not grief. This means they want to go against their nature and common sense.

Atheists - have no reason to believe in afterlife, they trust this is the only life we have and that when we die, we die for good, that is the end of our life, there is no soul, heaven or eternity. This is the real reason for grief, as we lost some person forever and we can never be reunited with them again. This is normal human behaviour.

This means that atheists are more in touch with human nature, while religious people are acting hypocritical and they are either ignoring their religious teachings (blaspheming) when they are grieving, or they are ignoring their nature and emotions if they are celebrating someone's death, as they try to follow their religious teachings.

So, are you human, or a hypocrite?
