Very nice Banjo!

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Thanks guys. It is a bit of a selfish thread I know, but I lose track of everything. To have it all in one place where I don't have to search through all the libraries on Photobucket makes it easier.

MrsB, you can edit posts. Try the Full edit as it gives you all the options.

This drum is made of marble. No kidding. Weighs a tonne.

My teaching kit in my studio. There is another exactly like it next to it. Oh and the tall drum with a Brasilian flag on it is a tan tan and the thing on it is another of my chekeres. A gourd covered in beads.

Clave sticks.

This tambourine is usually mounted to a kit or percussion set and can be played with hands or sticks.

African tongue drum.

Here is a tongue drum. Mine sounds very similar.

African cata. Anyone who's heard the Sara Tavares video, Balance, on the What are you listening to thread, has heard a cata.

What is it with drummers and snare drums?
I know a few drummers, and if they could they would have hundreds of different snares.
Of course cymbals too.

Of course cymbals too.

With snares I like to cover as many sounds as possible. For example, I will match drums and cymbals to the sound of the band. I am not posting mass produced cymbals. Istanbul makes cymbals especially for me.

I auditioned once for a funk/RnB band with two female vocalists. I asked each musician to play a few notes and chose the correct snare and cymbals from the choices I'd bought.

You wanna know the result? One of the girls took her panties off, threw them at me and screams "YOU WANNA JOIN OUR BAND?" Without even discussing it with the other members.

That is no joke. They were good so I worked with them for a while.

I have multiple kits for the same reason, e.g. vintage kits for singer songwriters, modern kits for pop and rock music, smaller jazz kits and a tiny kit for small rooms.

But that is nothing compared to the amount of percussion. For example I think I have over 30 cowbells!

But this is what I have built up over a 32 year career. This is not a hobby.
