A few quick facts on US government debt
This morning I was reading an opinion piece by some conservative about the national debt, Obama the antichrist and Trump our lord savior. So I thought I’d post a few of the numbers for discussion.

The national debt at the end of physical year 1945 (Truman’s first year in office) was $258.682 billion dollars. At the end of physical year 2014 it was 17.824 trillion. An increase of $17.565 trillion.

Republican presidential administrations presided over 56.27% or $9.884 trillion of the increase. Democratic presidential administrations presided over 43.73% or $7.681 trillion of the increase.

The national debt grew from $997 billion to $2.857 trillion under Ronald Reagan’s watch. That’s an increase of 186%. That’s right. The national debt almost tripled under Reagan. HW Bush grew it by another 54%, but he was only in office for four years. W saw our debt double again with 105% increase. W also saw the first trillion dollar annual deficit.

By contrast the Kenyan/Muslim/socialist/antichrist Obama only saw an increase of less than 50% his first 6 years in office. The bottom line is republican administrations aren’t as good for the national deficit, and democrat administrations aren’t as bad as Fucks News, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh would like us to think. Don’t take my word for it though, and for god’s sake don’t take the talking heads word either. Do the math for yourself.
