Every other country in the world is surviving just fine without such liberal gun laws.
What? Scotland is a war zone, man! Oh wait, no it isn't... I haven't even seen a gun, other than on a farm... and I physically know no one who has ever been confronted by someone with one. I've had a knife pulled on me before though. If it was a gun, then I'd probably be dead.
Yea it's the same here.
I know a few people with rifles but that's because I was brought up in a rural town and they were used for hunting.
Farmers often use them killing animals, either pests or sickly animals.

But that is actually a practical application for guns. Some city dweller in a single room apartment downtown Dallas has no need for a gun.

What didn't I answer?

You were saying about how it is people's individual rights (when really it's not, it's like driving a car, it's a privilege not a right) to own guns.

I said, what about the individual rights of the 20 children that were killed to be in a safe environment?

When did gun "rights" supersede a core basic human rights of safety?

It's not a simple, one-dimensional problem.

Firstly, it is an individual right in the U.S. - the Second Amendment says so.

Secondly, life is not safe.

Third, their environment was not, in fact, safe.

The U.S. society is not well. It is full of people with polarised, ideologically-driven positions. They are ignorant, and seemingly proud of it. And this is both the left and the right.

The U.S. society is rife with dangerous and deluded people. Not everyone, but many.

The terrible inequities and costs in health care and the dreadful attitudes to mental health care and social services, coupled with the ridiculous war on drugs, contribute to a violent society. People feel unsafe in 'the greatest country in the world'. Why? Because they are.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

So deluded, in fact, that they believe more guns results in less violence.

It is according to you.

"It's our second amendment. Period. End of story."

Quote:Secondly, life is not safe.

Chas, you are a smart guy so believe me when I say that that is the stupidest fucking thing I have ever seen you type.

Quote:Third, their environment was not, in fact, safe.

And you don't see a problem with that?
How is "oh yeah, those 20 under 10year old children were already in an unsafe area" at all a rational argument?
How do you NOT see what is wrong with that when small innocent children can't even be safe in a school, in a supposed western country?

That alone should scream at you that there is something seriously wrong in play here.

More reason why they SHOULDN'T have guns.

Yes, some of them do. And some believe that gun-free zones (midst 300,000,000 guns) are safe.

There is delusion to spare.

Ah, yes. I am glad I am not one of those.

No, I am listing facts and you are jumping to conclusions. You need to learn a little patience and self-control.

Then you do not understand the statement.

Yes, I am, in fact, pointing out that there is a problem here.

Yes, a lot of those people shouldn't have guns in this society. But it is the society that is the problem.

The Swiss have the guns in a healthy society. No problem.

As if a burglar/murderer is going to be deterred by a prison sentence. Gun rights gives a level playing field for good men. If a burglar is going to have a gun, I want one too.
