What does 'service select submarines' mean ? Do you service select submarines on Saturdays in your swimsuit ?

Haha, no, in the Navy as an officer you select your community when you get your commission. But until then, your suggestion is valid (although you should use a periscope).

It is an abbreviation for the state of MaryLand. JROTC JuniorReserve Officers' Training Corps
