ATTN: Erxomai
I've been doing research about the whole Genesis 1:26 thing.

It looks like you're right, and I was wrong.

I'm recanting my previous assertions in the fact that, as it appears, it does seem as if God is addressing a council.

Why was this language used?

My preliminary studies have shown this:

1) Based on the culture and language of the Ancient Near East peoples, there was a concept of God addressing the entirety of heaven.
2) In the same vein as I understand Genesis to be non-literal, it is also understood that the "our" isn't meant to be taken literally IE God is not equating Himself to the council.
3) This was simply another part of the story adapted from the original story to tell the Hebrews about God.

Interestingly enough, everything you've said would hold the same truth if it were all just Christian mythology.

The old gods are dead, let's invent some new ones before something really bad happens.

Well Kingsy, you've discovered your God to be a control freak. Now what? Shy

This is nothing new.

God is sovereign... of course He's a control freak. I mean... I would be worried if He wasn't.

True.

But yeah... faith and such.

On a side note:

I don't know why I was getting hung up with the words in the first place.

It seems pretty obvious, especially since I understand the creation story as a myth adaption... basically means it's not literal... at all.

Sovereign sounds like your god to me. Especially since he seeks to destroy the world.

I think in time you'll realize the rest of the book is the same....not literal....at all.
