From my personal experience, most black people prefer to be called "black" over "African American".

I personally think that the term is silly and brings segregation and racism further in the spotlight. Skin color should only be used as descriptive adjective such as "tall" or "thin". I don't think skin color should ever be used as an identifier.

Americans are Americans. Some are black... some are white... some are brown... some are yellow... some are red.

Personally I dont like it, because it makes no sense and I don't see the point. Everyone in the US migrated here in some fashion. And why do we need a term to distinguish us?

Everyone originated from Africa, we are all African Americans.
