I even heard of people having pizzas delivered to their elected official's offices with messages written on the cardboard, because voicemail was full and emails were going unanswered.

The DeVos family has their hands in so many pockets of this government. Ugh Ugh UGH

I had some respect for some of those Republican Senators. They just lost it.

I've already sent emails to the two republican senators who did stand up for what was right.

That's a good idea. I will do that as well.

I'm happy to see the Senator I voted for voted against DeVos.

Of course she got confirmed. We're one step closer to a Christian Theocracy because democrats don't fall in line.

If I were interested in investing in the US right now - and I'm not, I've liquidated all my US assets already - then I'd be looking at private, for-profit schools based on scientific values. Generally, well-to-do families know that their kids won't get anywhere with a degree from Liberty U or theocratic educational institutions where they teach creationism nonsense and the like. The kids who will do well will be the ones who can interact within a rational, scientific framework and have connections with those of like mind.

That said, I don't know the for-profit, science-based educational systems in the US so I can't point to a specific example. But if I were looking for a place to invest, this might be it.

She definitely has an agenda.

In 2001, Betsy DeVos spoke at “The Gathering,” an annual meeting of some of America’s wealthiest Christians. There, she told her fellow believers about the animating force behind her education-reform campaigning, referencing the biblical battlefield where the Israelites fought the Philistines: “It goes back to what I mentioned, the concept of really being active in the Shephelah of our culture—to impact our culture in ways that are not the traditional funding-the-Christian-organization route, but that really may have greater Kingdom gain in the long run by changing the way we approach things—in this case, the system of education in the country.”

Which two Republican senators were they, Moms. I'd like to send an email to them too. I tried to send an scathing email to VP Pence but it's been disabled or removed or or something. Angry

Now they want to abolish the Dept. of Education altogether.
