RE: Alex Jones
I hate Alex Jones with a passion. He was once on a radio station here in the UK called TalkSport, and I rang in the show hoping to rant at him about how he was an idiot and how he was a fear monger and was out to make money from lies. Unfortunately I didn't get on the show. There are some brilliant videos on YouTube showing how 99% of what he says he is wrong about and how much bullshit he talks. Videos like 100 Alex Jones Predictions that were wrong.

RE: Alex Jones
I've had several debates with one of his fans...

I've never managed to convince him that you can't use Infowars to prove Infowars. And that Jones is scaremongering in order to flog his books and DVDs.

Alex Jones is a dangerous man... I doubt very much that he really believes his own bullshit, but the frightening thing is that there are people out there who do. There was a discussion I had on a forum about North Korea when there was that tension earlier in the year. The guy I mentioned before had the nerve to suggest that America had a regime comparable to North Korea or Nazi Germany...

He doesn't know what he is talking about... Its an insult to the millions who lived and died under National Socialism, and the millions starving in North Korea.

But then, I'm never sure how to take him... He occasionally says things which suggest a certain admiration for many oppressive regimes. He was praising East Germany not so long ago, which provoked a justifiably angry response from a woman who grew up in East Berlin.

I used to listen to infowars out of interest of how much bullshit one man could speak and believe me I heard some hilarious predictions! During that time I saw the way he makes money. He makes comission off of the sale of gold bunions and gold coins which he always claims are going to rise in value as the dollar will collapse etc and its not safe to keep money in banks. He also makes commission from adverts which he also personally voice overs. Adverts like those selling water purification which he claims he uses to prevent getting poisioned by fluoride. Dumb people obviously believe him and he acts as a sort of celebrity endorsement. In my opinion the man is dangerous and should be jailed for life however imagine if it happened, all infowars blind followers would think it was because the govt wanted to silence him to prevent him from exposing FEMA camps and other bullshit.

Indeed. That would make a martyr of him. The best thing to do is not listen to shit like that.

And, for what crime should he be jailed for life? For having a contrary opinion and believing things he can't prove? Is that a crime? Should it be?

If he was in jail for that, I'd join those who considered him a matyr for a cause, the cause being freedom of speech and the right to bring your government grievances that you feel should be addressed. I'd take up arms over something like that.

He should be jailed for crimes against humanity. He is destroying peoples brains and thinking skills by brainwashing them with stupid illogical and non factual lies.

He's put himself in a great position where jailing him for such a thing would only add credence to his bullshit and it would actually serve him. But I'm also strongly of the opinion that one should not be jailed for having or spreading stupid opinions or nonsense, even if that nonsense is harmful.

In the same way that people should not need religion to "be good," we should not need government intervention to be smarter. The bigger a government gets, the dumber and more dependent people become. Alex Jones' nonsense may be harmful to some, but its important that people learn to deal with the bullshitters with their own brains. It's not really fair to punish him for his followers being so gullible and easily led.
