What is happening? How does it work? Is there any chance of more states legalizing? Is that like... the amendment allows to legalize pot and now states decide if they go with it?

In my country it is still illegal because of lobbyism probably, negotiations were held far out from public eye with implications that in any case one plant would be 1 thousand bucks worth drug, which is insane. But in practice 99 % times neighbours will steal all your plants instead of calling the police. Bastards.

Last I heard the open atheist in California was losing. That was a congressman I believe, in not sure how it turned out.

First of all this: http://www.whitehouse.gov/ondcp/federal-...-marijuana

That's pretty much the problem. They legalized something, at the state level, that isn't even recognized by federal law, and regulation, as legitimate for medical purposes. It's labeled as a Schedule 1, controlled substance by the federal government. That's basically the worst label they give drugs.

The drug has to be decriminalized/legalized/removed from controlled substance list (however you want to look at it) on the federal level. It should and will eventually, but as of right now, it's not, and that is going to be a pain in the ass politically on the federal level, and between the state and federal level. The executive branch is going to have to decide what they are going to do: To what extent the are going to ignore current federal laws, hold back law enforcement, manage the confusion between state and federal laws, and/or act toward legislation or executive order to allow states the ability to start legalizing it.

I'd assume, under Obama, in his second term, that something on a federal level will get done, on weed and drugs across the board, but right now, with all of the other problems, it's kind of a headache.

“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser men so full of doubts.” ― Bertrand Russell
