RE: An atheist's critique of the Bible (Book and eBook now available)
To clarify, for those who want to know, the 'good' white dude lol, in the book of mormon is Nephi. His descendants are us white boys. His brother's tribe (it's been nearly 20 years since I read this shit, I'm a little hazy) I think but will double check at some point was Levi I think. Anyway, Levi's tribe had accepted the word of God but then rejected it. They were 'marked' as black as punishment so the 'tribes' could tell each other apart. ... In the latter part of the 20th century, the mormons have incrementally softened the message about this and recently made a full u turn but at the original time of the 'revelation' it was divisive in reinforcing white supremacy and justifying slavery.

I'll just play the 'can I help you' lick!!!

dark skin or mark is neither evil nor good. Mark is neutral.
But curse is - separation from God. Evil people are separated from God.

Alla,
I quoted you. Look at your own posts and tell me that you did not say that dark sin is a curse.

Dark sin is a mark? A mark of what?

I'm beginning to smell a troll. I'm calling Ron and Hermione.

Doc

I explained before. This mark is to separate people who want to be covenant with God from those who do NOT want to be covenant with God.
If I said that dark skin is curse I made a mistake. I apologize for that. I missed word "NOT"
Curse is separation from God, not skin color. And this is written in the Book of Mormon.

He came to show to those who believed in Him that He did resurrect and to bless them and to restore Church the same like He did it in Judea.

The righteousness people were blessed with light skin and the others were cursed with dark skin (becoming the Native Americans). Is this in anyway accurate to LDS teachings? If so, wouldn't that count as skin color indicating people being cursed after Jesus?
Not very accurate. Skin color is not a blessing and not a curse. But those who didn't want to be covenant with God any more had to be separated. Different skin color is good way to separate.
They were cursed many centuries before Jesus Christ was born.
They didn't become Native Americans. But their seed/blood is in native Americans.
People are always mix. We have so many seeds/bloods in us.

OK

Role? What a strange word you use. Did you mean "calling"? Isn't this "Mormon" term/language?

To tell you the truth I have no idea what you are talking about.

The mormon church knocked me off the fence and made me an atheist. At first, for at least the first year, when you're 'golden' (do they still use that phrase it's been nearly 20 years for me) or the holy ghost is so strong you can hear it's words, that makes you so special etc; they pull you in. (Missionaries refer to this as the milk before the meat) after that you get spoon fed the history of the church in controlled amounts with the 'real' (mormon) version, followed by satan's words (the actual version) of events. They will teach you all of the counter arguments inderectly and the whole structure is based on a quite frankly excellent sales pitch structure.
I am so sorry but again I have no idea what you are talking about.

I will tell you if you are wrong or right if you tell me first what you are talking about.

I bet your Bishop (or Branch leader) has no idea you post on an atheist forum and we both know the rules about socialising with non believers who aren't likely to convert! (Naughty naughty) ... I think you have your doubts. .. and you should.
Sincerely
All the best
Actually I mentioned in my testimony at Sacrament meeting about socializing with atheists and all kinds of people. Nobody tells me not to do it. I believe that to preach the Gospel to those who are not ready is waste of time.
But if someone asks me questions about my believes I always give answers.

Can you explain to us the core of Mormon doctrine as you understand it, Alla, also, maybe you could make a new thread ? This is kinda Buddy Christ's little area... Again, I'm not being terribly altruistic Wink The intention is to mess with your head Smile

We'll love you just the way you are

I suggest a mod split this thread. Please.

I can but I agree that it is Buddy Christ's space and I do not want to spoil it by going off topic.
