And to answer your second question, the reason that Jesusianistisism is more "under attack" in here, is because most of us are from western countries, and Jesusianistisismists are a bigger concern for us.

Hope that helped.

Thanks a lot... actually im from a western country too, but the fact is that Christianism is not dangerous at all nowadays, i mean no so dangerous as Islam, we don't have "christianic republics" but in eastern countries there are "islamic republics" and they use religion to control people from the goverment itself, and surely there is more punishment for women. I just was concerned about it... Thanks a lot for your answers...

I know nothing about the Quran, but I'm sure it's as full of inconsistencies as the Bible. I do want to challenge you on the relative dangers of Islam and Christianity in the west. The fact that there are Islamic republics does not mean they will take root in western countries. Here, Christianity is by far the biggest threat to democracy and civil liberties, because it is rooted in our cultural history and is expressed in mainstream political parties.

In the US, for example, the constitution separates church and state. And yet, American politics is inextricably linked with the Big 3 monotheisms. It is extremely difficult to get elected without publicly professing a faith, and an atheist president is impossible.

Both parties are complicit in this, but the Republicans/Teabaggers have taken it further and are pushing faith-based policies to appeal to their core voters. You must have heard about the Budget debate, where funding for Planned Parenthood was threatened.

The US has its very own Christian Taliban.

RE: Analysis of the Quran
Damn! Am I glad there is a topic here... I'm new here as well.

I am an ex-Muslim, from a Muslim country (not Middle-East), and still living here.

Here's the best site for Quran translations: http://islamawakened.com/Quran/
It's got all the translations

The truth is, I don't know much about the Quran. A lot of the things we learn in school are from text books, and a lot of the times we do not know which information is from the Quran and which is from the Hadiths. And our Islamic customs are very different from that of the Middle East. The thing is also, that although we are all brought up with the custom of reading the whole Quran at least once, in Arabic that is, it is not a custom for us to read it in a language we understand... How pointless huh?...

So far, I have gone through all the verses which were mentioned in this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2s14T6x5AM) video. I've listed them below (alphabetically on topic):

http://islamawakened.com/Quran/39/21/default.htm
http://islamawakened.com/Quran/35/9/default.htm
http://islamawakened.com/Quran/36/34/default.htm

Whoever compiled is so incredibly hard working and passionate. It's just sad that after all these readings he/she fails to see to falws in the Quran - to see that it is all a bunch of crap.

Enjoy!
I am looking forward to go through more verses which are claimed to be predictions.

Do you have any links to these videos?

Also, if anyone knows, roughly how many ex-Muslim atheist do we have in this forum? Are there any other threads on Islam?

RE: Analysis of the Quran
Well, i've read a lot of islam in pages provided for some friends, what i can see is that quran is terrible, i mean, i feel denigrated as a woman reading that, but in the pages that i read, those terrible words are changed into sweet words of mercy and peace, and that's what muslims think, the are not the guilty ones of the system, but the clerics always try to keep people into the religion no matter how because it's a good business. There is a page called apostates of Islam, i don't know if you have seen it, but i think it's a good one because you can keep in touch with some apostates.

The way I see it, the Bible and the Quran are equally messed up.
It is just that now it is the Muslims/Middle-East are the ones who are in their medieval age while the West are in their golden age, just as the Christians/West were in their medieval age back the when the Muslims/Middle-East were in their Golden Age.

In the medieval age of both worlds, religion and the book played the part of making it they way it is. So I don't really think that any one of the Quran or the Bible is anymore messed up than the other.

Shocked RE: Analysis of the Quran
miracle things are pathetic. as an ex-muslim and science lover , i can say this is the most powerful weapon they use to keep us muslim. but they are all lies. specially worlds shape. its easy to understand quran (muhammed) thinks its flat. not spheroid(im not sure its the correct word). and it says there are only 8 kind of animals are living !!! and spermatic fluid is coming from up of the waist . yeah that is very scientific. and also evolution. islam is also creationist and even this , is enough for not trusting in that.

RE: Analysis of the Quran
So I'm a little confused on the view that the Qur'an has of Jews and Christians (I just started reading it so I can compare it to the Bible). Chapter 2, section 8 states:
Quote:Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good, they have their reward with their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.

This led me to think that followers of the God of Abraham would be accepted into heaven, no matter which specific faith they were in. But then in section 13 it says:
Quote:And they say: None shall enter the Garden except he who is a Jew, or the Christians. These are their vain desires. Say: Bring your proof if you are truthful.

But this seems to suggest that they'll spend time in the fire as disbelievers. What is the view that Muslims are taught regarding Jews and Christians?

Of all the ideas put forth by science, it is the principle of Superposition that can undo any power of the gods. For the accumulation of smaller actions has the ability to create, destroy, and move the world.

RE: Analysis of the Quran
Look what i know actually depends on interpretations and translations. Christians and Jews are called people from the book because it's supossed they received the scriptures first and then Islam was revealed, so they are considered monotheist anyway. The fact is that a muslim guy can marry to a christian or jewish girl, but a muslim girl can`t marry to a muslim man. I think also that christians or jews in Islamic countries have to pay some taxes for not being muslims and i read a curious article in the web site faithfreedom.org about the missunderstanding of some words in western, that for muslims mean other things. For me it's scary in fact...
