I fail to grasp what the fuss is all about.

The bible is a collection of tales, most of which are nonsense.
  • The creation story cited in Genesis - well two different creation stories - is make-believe by bronze-age nomads.
  • Moses never existed
  • There is no evidence the Exodus ever happened
  • The global flood didn't happen
  • The chances of Jonah living in a whale are next to zero

I could go on.....................................

The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike

In other stories, i.e. Saul, the commandment is to kill everything and when Saul didn't, god gotta hella pissed. This was a commandment of god that wasn't fully carried out and now god seems to be like "Ehhh close enough".

As I said in a previous post, I don't have the bible memorized, but I thought it was silent on G-d's response to the inadequacy of the Israelites in killing the Canaanites and it basically just says they were criticized for allowing the Amalek king to survive and impregnate a Jewish woman.

Funny how as time progresses the holy writings of the worlds religions always grow to be more metaphorical.

Cant be that humans simply don't want to admit they bought a bad story.

The man asked the pastor directly if he would brutally murder his child for God as Abraham intended. The pastor repeatedly tried to dodge the question by tossing incoherent gawd babble at the student; the casual "interpetation" and "he didn't kill him after all" lines everyone has heard. The guy didn't relent and asked for a clean literal answer. He got it. The pastor admitted he would murder his child for God if asked in the end.

Good luck explaining that answer to your 5 year old at bedtime.

Try this one.

Sadly, my Christian Coworker told me he was not suprised.
