RE: Whose Side Were You On?
The problem is, the long-term EFFECTS of racism are STILL present. (I do have a certain sympathy for those who say "those who claim to be "indigenous" were just the last set of conquerors, before whitey". It's the way ALL humans did things, for most of their history. But things don't "get fixed" over-night. The ancestors of the privileged provided the privilege to us, and we live with that status. These same ancestors are responsible for the long term chain of events they started, which are STILL on-going. No one goes from *slave/discriminated against* in one generation to successful/educated the next. It's a LONG term enterprise to undo the effects. We HAVE the benefits they provided. We also get the responsibilities their screw-ups caused.

Insufferable know-it-all.Einstein God has a plan for us. Please stop screwing it up with your prayers.

In another world at another time, this guy would be the hero of a movie.

But in Mad Max Murika, the hero is that bad guy...

The party of Laura Norder seem to be happy to break the law when their investments are at stake.

So, it looks like the veterans will be needed again:

So what? We stole it fair and square?

Indeed.

This goes to my original point, when this thread was titled "Cain vs. Abel, again" in that the pastoral ethos is that the land is not 'theirs' or anyone's ... they are custodians or caretakers rather than owners.

I can't see a future where this lifestyle (caretaker-settlements) does not go extinct in the face of the more virulent meme of 'flags' (ownership-based settlements) unless they establish armed border patrols (build a 'wall').

Cells without membranes are just molecules.
Bodies without skins are just cells.
An Englishman's home without its castle is just a man.
Religions without doctrines are just beliefs.
Nations without borders are just tribes.

A social contract type of border cannot be sustained if it is unilateral.

Trump wants walls to keep people out. The tribes might have to build walls around the unceded territories to keep the Stormtrumpers out.

Consider

All possessions are temporary, including land. It has always been thus.

As yakherder said, if you can’t defend it it ceases to be yours. Is it right? That’s a completely different question.
