That's what we were afraid of. It's complete bullshit.
You have taken in NOTHING that was said in your own fucking thread.
"Atheist values lead to nihilism". Are you shitting me ?

Just wanted to put this up.

Anyone have any thoughts about this? Objections?

Four sentences in, I smelled bullshit.

Yup. I think the bait and switch was at 0:49 with the definition. The narrator went from "not simply" is (implying both is and ought) to then went on to describe ethics and morality as only ought.

Atheists like Tear, and Matt Finney, along with Stevel, are among the handful of atheists who recognize this.

The ought is all I'm interested in, I have no issue with descriptive ethics and behave in an ethical manner but because I like it, I don't derive oughts.

You do if you want to survive in a cohesive human community. It you need to have it explained to you why you "ought" to live in a well running community, you are beyond hope.

I don't have to have derived oughts to attempt to enforce my views on others, I do that simply because I want to.

Atheists =/= nihilists

Saying that atheism leads to nihilism is akin to saying that conservatism leads to fascism. Or that liberalism leads to communism. It is a moronic reductionist argument that oversimplifies things to make a preconceived conclusion work.

Some might call such tactics, dishonest. But you be dishonest? NEVER!!!! (/sarcasmfont)

Atheism =/= nihilism, only in the way that atheism =/= consistent beliefs.

And I should say while many atheists like to include non-self identifying atheists into their folds, like buddhist and such, the sort the video, and others here are tending to highlight are atheist who are also ontological naturalist. They typically hold a view that rejects God beliefs, and attempts to reject any of its varies implications. It's the only form of atheism that is an actual contender to theism.

You can sit here and say how about those atheists that don't subscribe to ontological naturalism, but no one really cares to pay them any mind, and they're fairly non-existent in these debates.

lol, I could sworn the other day you implied that you subscribed to objective morality? But I probably read it wrong, but we could add you and Girlyman to that list as well.
