RE: Another example of BS statistics and Strawmen, in the guns debate
I'm gonna go a bit off topic and comment on that picture cause its bugging the hell out of me. I have doubts about its authenticity...that is it belonged to a marine who did it. One, all Marines are riflemen. All train pretty extensively. They do it in bootcamp, usually train periodically, and always do weapons training before deployment. Two, If this fuckup was caused by a service member it would be more likely to happen stateside to a member of the Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard. Still doubt it though. Three, I don't even think the round will feed backwards from mag, which means someone manually feed that thing in backwards.

I hope you realize these were made by Marines

I wouldn't be surprised by a bad score at the range, but I am having trouble believing that any marine loaded the rounds backwards.

I suspect these photos were staged. The lower was probably a target shot by a recruit at basic training.

You are being too kind sir. Do you realize the catch 22 of having case rim stuck in a chamber? You have to get a squib rod, drill the center out so it dosent contact the primer, and wack it out while keeping the slide locked back.

Thats a no go, recruits pull pits for recruits, and they certainly dont get cell phones, like at all.

The 5.56 NATO round is a rimless round...as is the 9 mm Luger round.

I meant as in not the rim like a 22lr or those old, obscure hunting rounds but the rim like part that the extractor grabs. Its still a much larger OD on the rear of the case then on the crimp with 9mm. Its still a pain to get out. You can't just pull it with pliers.

RE: Another example of BS statistics and Strawmen, in the guns debate
I'm still going to remain skeptical my friend. Shitty marksmanship and negligent discharges are relatively common, but I ain't buying the backwards round feeding.

I could've had a negligent discharge myself. While traveling in a certain area we were instructing to keep a round chambered. At some point my safety lever must've got caught on my uniform, body armor, etc because I discovered it was on burst-fire. Could've been a bad day. Of course I am not an idiot so I never point at anything I don't intend to shoot.
