Another science-y quiz
I came across it today, thought it would be fun here. Multi- guess, 10 questions

7 out of ten.

Missed 2, 4, and 10. I'm surprised at #4.
I thought carbon for sure.

7/10

Wasn't 100% sure about 1 and 2, but 10 was just a lucky guess.

I was surprised at 4 too.
I confused the wavelengths and had no idea who named the quark.

Oh well. I expected worse.

RE: Another science-y quiz
I got 1 lol. Most of these questions were about quarks or whatever.

I got the one about james joyce correct by guessing.

Another science-y quiz
#5 is wrong, should be Proxima Centari.

Edit: nevermind, I read it wrong.

7/10, and dammit, photons have relativistic mass.

What? You didn't say I couldn't cheat Big Grin

I knew which particle had no mass and I could have figured out which element was most present by mass in the body probably, although I still would have got it wrong. The rest, no fricking idea.

Got two right guessing every damn one. I suppose that's par for statistics or something......

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

RE: Another science-y quiz
I fared little better than chance, but I chalk it up to this quiz having relatively little scientific content Smile

The first two are focused on pseudo-scientific paranoia about gluten and GM foods (coeliac is real, other insensitivity is likely psychosomatic). Question 5 is an astrological question more than astronomical. Questions 7 and 8 are literary and historical questions, more or less. 10 is question about the discovery of a proof of an interesting conjecture in topology (mathematics).

I call no fair Smile

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.
