Any French citizens here?
Just curious about your overall view of the current election.

Does it make you nervous there is no 'centrist' candidate?

Macron is pretty much a centerist candidate by French standard. In my opinion he is a fair candidate with wide support from the political establishment behind him. His program, while based on many reforms is not groundbraking. He will make a fine President in my opinion, much better than Le Pen who would tarnish France reputation further, reduce its influence on the international scene and strangle european economic exchanges.

My wife, who has double citizenship, will vote for him and thinks its better than choices during the last election.

Yes, she definitely sounds like bad news. It will be interesting to see how the votes divide.
My friend lives in Paris and is voting Macron but she says she can't say who will win. Le Pen certainly has backers. It feels like Trump 2.0, with people coming out of the woodwork to support their own brand of hate.

RE: Any French citizens here?
It seems that Macron has won the presidency with a very comfortable margin (64% of the votes) against Le Pen, but participation was a low during the second turn. He should not take this easy victory as a sign of such a wide support due this low participation score. This bode well for the EU immediate survival though.
