Isn't there a sign on the door that says "no soliciting?"

lolwut?

Quote:Eve Online (stylised EVE Online) is a video game by CCP Games. It is a player-driven, persistent-world MMORPG set in a science fiction space setting. Characters pilot customizable ships through a galaxy of over 7,500 star systems.[1][2] Most star systems are connected to one or more other star systems by means of stargates. The star systems can contain moons, planets, stations, wormholes, asteroid belts and complexes.

Sounds EXACTLY like EVE online.

If there is a world in which players all play together in.
There is an open world.
Players all play in said world.
It's online.

Thus, MMO.

The fact that it has a SP game mode is irrelevant to the MMO game mode.

Is Star Citizen an MMO?
No! Star Citizen will take the best of all possible worlds, ranging from a permanent, persistent world similar to those found in MMOs to an offline, single player campaign like those found in the Wing Commander series. The game will include the option for private servers, like Freelancer, and will offer plenty of opportunities for players who are interested in modding the content. Unlike many games, none of these aspects is an afterthought: they all combine to form the core of the Star Citizen experience.

and, wait ...

If you r right, how come Minecraft (Genre: Sandbox, survival) not count as MMO then ?!

Further more : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diablo_II
Surprise! Diablo 2 was not a MMO, too?!

Finally: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Citizen V.S. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eve_Online
hmmm
are minecraft/diablo 2 open world? (ie: 200 players all play on the one world. )
Nope.
So of course they're not MMO's.

I'm really confused because in the video he said there would be a single player campaign but after that single player campaign it'd be open world with other players and shit which is the definition of an MMO.

Have u played Minecraft??? OFC it can be an open world with 200+ players if you want. It also has official servers.
Plus, I didnt see Wiki put SC into same genre with EVE online. Obviously the definition of MMO is not just a open world for multiplayers.
Here is another good example.

I've played a great deal of and I can tell you from that EVE is not sim, it is far closer to an excel spread sheet with graphics. That flippancy aside, the engine that EVE runs on was originally a submarine sim, this is why there interia and why your ship bobs up and down when at rest. The enviroment is not vacuum or space, but water. Admittedly its got a spacey feel to it, but as a space sim its utter phail.

I fail to see how this is a sim per say. A sim implies you are SIMULATING a real world situation.
