I'm really confused because in the video he said there would be a single player campaign but after that single player campaign it'd be open world with other players and shit which is the definition of an MMO.

Have u played Minecraft??? OFC it can be an open world with 200+ players if you want. It also has official servers.
Plus, I didnt see Wiki put SC into same genre with EVE online. Obviously the definition of MMO is not just a open world for multiplayers.

I've played a great deal of and I can tell you from that EVE is not sim, it is far closer to an excel spread sheet with graphics. That flippancy aside, the engine that EVE runs on was originally a submarine sim, this is why there interia and why your ship bobs up and down when at rest. The enviroment is not vacuum or space, but water. Admittedly its got a spacey feel to it, but as a space sim its utter phail.

I fail to see how this is a sim per say. A sim implies you are SIMULATING a real world situation.
