Any others?
I am (forced to go) going to church now. My question is, how many other atheists have to put up with Mass or Service every year? Is it mandated or is it something you willing go through for your family? I'll view your responses when I get back.

Sadly, it cuts off at the most hilarious part.

Parents can't force you to go to church once you hit the age of 14 in Germany. Yes

... kick its ass?

I am guessing that is a pic of the Vogon captain reading his Vogon poetry.

Vogons spell it... 'arse'.

Answer to your question....

Perhaps I was bribed sometimes or emotionally blackmailed but never was 'forced' to go.

RE: Any others?
My mom stopped "forcing" me around the age of eight. Thankfully, at that point, my dad was convinced I was old enough to make my own decisions about whether or not religion was bullshit. Since then, it's only been weddings and funerals.

I'm glad, too, because even then I felt like a fraud being there. Everyone else supposedly believed in the stuff and I'm just sitting there, going through the motions, thinking, "these people are all crazy..."

RE: Any others?
My mom used to go to midnight mass on xmas eve and I went with her. She loved the music, they had a special choir for that mass once a year.

I liked going for the walk - usually it would be snowing and it was beautiful.

So I wasn't forced, and we never went to church at all except for xmas eve.

Did you survive?

Anyway, forcing a kid to go to church until age 8 is brainwashing and a chore. This is 'normal'. After age 8 it is (continued) brainwashing and sadistic torture. Ergo: those parents ought to face a court of law and a heavy fine. With repeat offenders: jailtime! And with repeat-repeat offenders jailtime and get the kid(s) taken away from their amoral influences! Permanently.
