Try Dr. Richard Elliott Friedman's "Who wrote the Bible".
There is no way, just by reading it, you can even begin to understand ANYTHING about it.

Well, some of us have common sense and a critical mind of our own, you know. They/we don't need anybody else's opinion to make up their/our minds! Not all of us are sheep.

So what does that make us, wolves in sheeps' clothing?

I disagree. I like to be a sick fuck from time to time and I hate that book. It has no morals at all. On the other hand, I would not be opposed to reading a book marketed as the fiction it is that includes rape, genocide, and certain other things.

I guess by the 'correct' way, they mean to ignore all the contradictions, historical and archeological inaccuracies, unscientific nonsense, immorality, etc.

Why doesn't this guy just cut the crap and tell us all what we need to be high on in order to believe it. That way we can all make a choice. Get high on the correct stuff so we believe it or stay non-believers. I pick stay non-believer.

This thread should be "Are you sure you WANT to know what the Bible says?
The answer is : "probably not".
If you're interested in ancient political and geographical intrigue you may find it amusing.
It really has almost nothing to do with "spirituality".

I know saving people and spreading the word is important to you.

To us it is annoying. Many of us were religious, we know the bible, and came to reject it.

We've also heard many other peoples interpretations, from spouting hate to some form of squishy love. However no matter how you spin the verses the stories they come from are generally poorly written, uninteresting, full of death, murder, lies, falsehoods and random bits of common knowledge.

So your message spreading and promotions are pointless.

It's as if the OP has us all on ignore so he can't tell not one person here is interested in this pablum.

RE: Are you sure you know what the Bible says?
He's throwing it out there 'cos he thinks some guy 'looking for answers' - a seeker, in Christian parlance - will find his little message and be led to the LORD through his good offices. Ignores our sarky comments 'cos he's long ago concluded that we're going straight to hell.
