You know, thinking about it further, maybe a minimum post count would also help get a feel for the person before they even get a chance to get into the SBT.

Maybe about ten posts ?

If bullshit were music some people would be a brass band.

We could do something like that along with having to be an adult. The no nudity/porn thing will seriously lower the amount of people who would sign up just to get a look in that thread, but it can't hurt to make it a requirement that they have posted elsewhere a few times first.

Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

I am actually intrigued, I'm not sure what that says about me as a person. Laugh out load

Ok, I think a lot of people are overlooking an important point Chas was trying to make earlier...we can't redefine "porn". Porn can be interpreted as pictures, video, text, or any other form of expressing sexual thoughts and ideas. SO, if you want an 18+ section that allows explicit sexual discussion! you better damn well allow porn. Otherwise, you walk a very blurry line, and THAT is how you run into problems.

The only option for this to work (IMO of course) is to have a section similar to the Clubhouse. A section where peoe are granted access, based on our knowledge of them, how they interact with the community, and how much they are trusted by staff, vets, and the community as a whole.

Porn IS allowed. Again, without allowing porn, there would be no steadfast guidelines to follow. Because some people don't want to see certain things, I would suggest that a guideline for the 18+ section be accurate thread titles. In a section like that, it's only fair to be transparent about the intended content of the thread.

We can assume people will act in an appropriate "adult" manner. If they don't, they lose their 18+ privileges. And in a section like this that should be easy. Set out some simple rules like in the personal issues section, and enforce them strictly. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

The point is not for us to share porn. The point is to allow us to have adult discussion. I think if that was clear to Seth he may soften his position. The problem is, the idea inevitably sounds like "we want a porn section." That just isn't it. The only reason for allowing porn and nudity is so that we can have what some people may consider "pornographic discussions." Not to mention, threads like the boobie appreciation thread could be much more appreciated. Tongue

Remember, keep it simple.

This is a much more "sellable" idea to present to Seth. Anything else?

I have asked the question in this thread. What is the forum definition of 'porn'? Is it only images?

Any such area or thread will be an added moderation burden.

Edit: What Stark said. Drinking Beverage

Another edit: "Third-party porn" could be disallowed. That is, only images/text created by the members is allowed.

But we already have the thread so it wouldn't be an added burden, maybe technically it already is an added burden, but I you read the legal definition of pornography (I linked it a page or 2 back), and then go through the sexy banter thread. I haven't found anything that legally constitutes pornography.

Yes, I would say we've reached that consensus, porn= nudity and sex pictures.

The talk will probably be just as it is now, where at times it gets a bit descriptive. But that would leave the interpretation up to the readers imagination.

I dont think anyone would have a problem with people in clothing, looking sexy. Tho it would feel creepy with minors in the mix.

I think we can do that without allowing picture/video porn. All we really would have to do is be a bit more lenient on what is allowed to be SAID in the sub forum.

I can fully understand the "no porn" idea and if that means that we can't have RP sex sessions and post erotic lit in the open, so be it. Again, that is things that people can PM about and share privately if it comes up in discussion.

Instead, we could simply acknowledge that the conversation will occasionally turn to the raunch and perverse and that this is part of healthy adult discourse on the topic of sex. Consenting adults will discuss topics that interest them and ignore those that don't.

I agree, sort of. I have a clear understanding of the legal definition of the word pornography. Which I have linked in this thread. There's no need to allow pornography just to allow for sexy banter. Just like in the personal issues sub forum where there are special rules at the top, we can list the rules and the legal definition of pornography there for everyone to see. If we are only allowing trusted people in then we have no need to be concerned about a major issue with people not understanding the rules. And obviously anyone who refused to follow the rules would just be kicked out of the club
