Instead of making it just be declared 18+, we could just make the age required to enter be whatever your legal jurisdiction entails. It would therefore just be 18+ 99% of the time, but not really be discriminatory in the other cases.

Right - but as I mentioned, the legal ages cover other people. If the laws in your jurisdiction say 20+ it doesn't matter if you are only let in at 20+ if there are 18-19 year-olds participating...

I totally agree that it's reeeeeally unlikely to cause problems.

But it's the principle of the thing.

I understand that, but I'm just saying that the "principle" ends up pissing off more people than if you just made it 18+. I'm not a fan of appeasing hypothetical scenarios when it impacts more real scenarios. People that are already legally allowed to view such materials will also feel discriminated against.

The problem here is that you haven't included Gwyneth Paltrow anywhere in this suggestion yet.

RE: Area69 for Adults(and Gwyneth lovers) only
I know that it's a sexy banter thread but I have to say that I found it rather useful place to get support. It actually meant quite a bit to me. Normally when I mention being anorgasmic I get the usual crap about not finding the right man, people being incredulous that such a condition even exists, suggestions that I am sexually repressed etc. Not to mention the taboo surrounding the whole subject, ironically enough.

TTA is a forum that will attract a lot of ex-theists who have lived a lifetime of sexual repression due to their religious upbringing. And as with ex-smokers, they'll probably want to make up for all the years of their life that they have not properly explored a fundamental part of who they are. It would be useful as a form of support for the forum to provide a safe environment in which people can do this. Therefore I think the sexy banter thread could actually be very useful to some people. I know that there is a 'Personal Issues and Support' section, and I suppose this would be useful for anyone struggling with their sexuality but it is still open to lurkers. In the same way that new atheists get to practise on theist trolls, a sexuality section or thread also provides a good place to practise other skills.

And the irony is, I've have probably seen more disgusting, graphic, and porn images than any adult here has, even younger than I am now. I don't expect many people here to have seen what a vagina infested with hundreds of maggots looks like. Cannot unsee.

Wtaf. I can't even unread that. Yuck!

RE: Area69 for Adults(and Gwyneth lovers) only
Okay, so I realize I've already spent way too much time talking about this, but since the FT is actually considering the possibilities, I think it's worth mentioning.

If legality is a concern, I don't think it's reasonable to make it any higher than 18+. I'm not entirely sure on this, but I do believe that all countries in which pornography is legal follow the 18+ laws due to marketing convenience. That means that anybody who is not in an 18+ country is in a country where the consumption of and participation in pornographic materials is illegal, in which case there aren't any legal repercussions on TTA's part. Again, I'm not entirely sure on this yet, but I'm not finding any countries which have anything other than 18+ laws where it is legal.

Personal:
1. I'm not putting my picture on any sexual-related content (or atheist for that matter - I want my privacy).
2. I don't need porn here when I can get porn anywhere else. Just go to a different site.
Then don't. It really is that simple. If you don't want others to see you naked, and you don't want to see others naked on here, don't visit the section or post naked pictures.

Quote:From a legal perspective:
1. It is IMPOSSIBLE to prove your age 100% AND keep your anonymity. Fake ID's, hacking, fake IP's, etc can trick anyone. Hell, how long does it take the mods to identify a sock puppet? (not saying you guys suck, I'm saying its harder than most people realize)
2. You'd need to actively regulate it to keep out unwanted (illegal) activity (like child porn or posting other people's pictures).
3. All we need is some smart ass theist geek to hack us and *bam* gold mine in lawsuits Dodgy

I don't see how this could be worth the trouble.

This is why the subject of still having a "no nudity" rule in place would be a fine idea. If we want to exchange naked pictures, there's PMs, KIK, Snapchat, etc. We'll be fine and we don't have to worry about kids seeing anything.

It's the bouncer at the door issue. Unless all dirty talk is banned, we're still gonna do it. Wouldn't it be better if we had a closed off area to do so in? We don't want to go to "some other site" to do that because we like the people here. We have friendships with the people we banter with that goes beyond sexy talk. The sexy talk is just an added bonus, kinda like friends with benefits.

It doesn't have to be exactly like AF's forum, but I think we need to control it a bit better than we have.

Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.
