I did misunderstand you, but I still can't agree with you. You could cover up your name, address, etc on the ID as long as your face and birthdate are visible. This would be PMed to an Mod where they would be kept private. The admins already have access to much of your personal info. Still, if you don't want any of them to know what you look like, you don't have to participate.

I'm just saying we don't need to add a "touchy" issue (no pun intended... okay maybe a little) to another touchy issue [atheism]. Like you just said, you want to see a member's dick/tits? That's great, ask for Kik/Skype/Snapchat/whatever.

It would be a better benefit to have a room to trade usernames and put the responsibility on the user to follow his/her country's laws/regulations/etc.

We just had a creeper incident, and I know Ivy was complaining of a stalker [unknown if related to subject at hand]. We just don't need any more of this shit.

How would requiring someone to provide extra ID contribute to the stalker/creeper problem?? Have you read some of the crap we've written in there? Right now it's open for anyone, even guests, to look at. Hiding it from the general populace and making people provide ID would discourage that kind of behavior much more than it would encourage it.

Why I didn't on AF.

Fair enough for the creeper part, why I don't really participate. Though, my first address about a room for username exchanges still stands and would eliminate the problem entirely [at least on the site].

I don't think you're getting the point. If a website could be held responsible for a user lying about their age, there wouldn't be so many websites out there that are like dating websites except strictly for sex. This are huge websites with thousands of users and all you have to do is check the box that says you're 18.
I'm just saying I don't think it will create a legal problem for this site. Anywho it's whatever. If they decide no then I will tone down my sexiness here. NBD

That's where the principle comes in. You've made it clear you don't want to associate your sexuality with minors, and if a minor can just use his fake ID, this doesn't help anything. You might as well keep the check box.

Ok, so if someone gave a phoney ID, then it comes down on them, us (as individuals) and the site would be in the clear.

The way the cops catch pedos on the internet is by saying they're underage girls/boys, not the other way around.

Clicking on a "I certify I'm 18+" banner/box would take care of the issue.

Not to mention, if a kid got in on this, we would surely get a clue quick enough and ignore them. (I would think there are enough skeptics on board to weed them out)

Theres no foolproof method , but something needs to be done to stem the tide here.

If bullshit were music some people would be a brass band.

While exchanging usernames is great for the dirty picture issue, it still doesn't do anything to resolve the issue of our group discussions. We don't want to have to go to another site to discuss things with our friends that are already here. The issue that we have is that kids can see it/participate and that's something we want to eliminate.

Again, keeping the thread exactly as is, all rules intact, but adding a bouncer would seriously help the problem. The SBT is a very popular thread, and we would hate to see it go. We just want a method to keep it a bit more private and keep the kids out.

I really don't see what the issue with requiring proof of age is. If anything it's a CYA for the website.

Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

Whatever you guys want to do. Like I said, I'll probly join. I'm not against it, I'm just not for it.

If you want to exchange emails addy's, there is the pm system, or you could put it in your profile.

If you want to talk sexual health issues (and we have MANY, MANY, MANY times), then there's the health & psychology and personal issues forum.

Maybe it comes down to some personal responsibility with your comments. We all know that underage kids and teens are on this site, you monitor yourself in what you say to others on other topics, why not this one?

The legal risk here is high, not just because of minors, but as Dom mentioned do we *really* need to have potential trouble associated with an atheist site?

Then there's the whole admin nightmare just keeping up with it, and what happens if a fake ID is presented, the admin allows it, and shit hits the fan. Now our admin is in the middle of mess.

the internet is FILLED with places for sexy talk, I'm not a prude trying to rain on your parade, I've had a bit of fun in that thread myself, but I just don't feel its worth the risk when there are other ways to fulfill the same goal.

/off soapbox.

Bows, I dont think you've read the last few pages, I think that most of the members have come to a consensus of what will work.

Now, how thats received with the mods is a different story. I'm sure we will find out soon enough.

Saying that "Oh well there are other places you can talk about this stuff" is a bit insulting. Since the original request was just for a way to add a bit more security to the thread (limit minors and guests) to avoid causing a legal problem. Sexual repression is a real thing and is one of the most lasting and impactful real world repercussions of religion having a place to talk those kinds of things out in a light hearted manner is a good thing. Personally I would advise against anyone posting a nude pic on the internet (anywhere on the net) and as of yet I don't know if that is going to be allowed even if we do go forward with this idea.

As to the fake ID thing there is such a concept as due diligence and we are looking into the legalities of this. It is probably going to be Seth's call one way or the other if we go forward with it.

Ok,i think that adding a 18+ forum is a better idea than leaving it in the open (tho i will miss reading the SBT).
I also think you still need to share yo pics over kik and similar apps instead of on the forum.

Last. Can someone explain why porn sites only have a checkbox and don't get into legal trouble, but TTA still can when we have ID checks?

I don't really like going outside.
It's too damn "peopley" out there....
