Sometimes simple argument like that can change a persons perspective.

Sometimes it may do the opposite.

...Simple arguments I mean...

Yes indeed. Attitude polarization and belief perserverance are a pain in the ass.

The more I argue the more I learn about the psychology of arguments.

I'd say you did have time to debate. You won in about 2 seconds. Good job! Thumbsup

Stupidity doesn't have an age limit...unfortunately...if it did there may be some hope.

In the words of Ron White...Ya can't fix stupid.

The problem with stupid people is, that their stupidity doesn't really matter unless it causes them an embarrassment in front of everyone.

Ask her this one:
Is God omnipotent? (yes)
Can he create such a big stone that he can not lift it?

That piece of medieval wisdom should keep her occupied. Never will she realize, that after certain size of stones they're called planets and the whole idea of lifting something up from something becomes quite meaningless. Not speaking of stones of such a size, that they collapse into black holes, where all other parameters become meaningless too.

Actually, I constructed a pretty good argument right off of my head in class. I was talking about Harry Potter with my friend in class, we have a lot of inside jokes so I said my dad was working on his wizardry (Because when I was in 5th grade I told everyone my father was a wizard and everyone believed me. XD) She then turns around and says "Wizards aren't real." (By now the idea rushed through my head)

I said "tell that to my father" (As if to say the imaginary is real) She gets mad very quickly. She said your father isn't a wizard and blah blah blah. Me: I know my father isn't a wizard, but god sure is, do you not believe in god? I'm glad there are more atheists at this school than I thought. She is now furious and I am almost pissing myself from laughter. Her: God isn't a wizard, Me: How did god create the universe again? her: He spoke it into existence. Me: So as if to say a word like "Accio" and galaxies appeared?

Her: Yes, like that, Me: Did you know Accio is a wizards spell (according to harry potter) to summon objects? Her: Huh Me: Laughat

RE: Arguing With a Very Dumb Person
A fun question to ask your peers the next time they get hung up on "creation vs science"...

"Why do you feel that the hypothesis of 'god' needs to be included in science? The entire point of science is to make predictions, understand things and the universe. So if the end result is only 'god' then how does that help you understand the world at all? What if I told you that perhaps if there is a god, that if you look at the world with an open mind and aren't narrow minded to science that perhaps that may actually help you understand the universe such a being created?"

Example:

Gravity. What is gravity?
God did it.

Well that doesn't help me understand gravity.

Gravity. What is gravity?
Insert actual scientific explanation of gravity.

Great, now I understand it better.

That helps me understand gravity.

Creation science is nothing more than people who are afraid that actual science disproves and abolishes their idea of a god being, it makes them uncomfortable. It's people who bend the results of things, make up things, lie, cheat or simply cherry pick science and ignore the rest to explain things to suit their world view. Real science should not be biased, but help you explain things.

Occam's razor... if the inclusion of a god being does not help you understand the universe, then the inclusion of said god being has no business in that explanation of the universe and can be excluded.

Assumptions... leaps...

The thing that actually gave me a mindfuck when i was a kid was when I spoke to an atheist and was a young earth creationist and told them that the big bang was not real since it would disprove god. He said, "How do you know the big bang isn't how god created the universe?" .............................. "Wow... that's..... an interesting point."

And that's when I started reading up on it.

If wizards aren't real, why is witchcraft proscribed in scripture? Consider
