...made me a huge Sylvia Plath fan. One of the few actual books I own. Wink

Edited for the "pics or it didn't happen" crowd.

Looking at the previous posts, I feel like the old stuffy dull guy that bores people to death but I love Salvador Dali. Surrealism was incredibly freeing for so many art forms which followed it, notably the absurdist comedy that evolved from it. ... Mr Dali, I salute you for the gift of Monty Python! Big Grin

Rick Wakeman once pushed Salvador Dali off his stage while gigging in France with the Strawbs. Dali interrupted Wakeman's only solo of the night. It was only after the gig he found out that the old guy waving his cane wildly on stage was Dali. Smile

Me, my favorite art is music and literature. Visual art has never really touched me. I have no idea why. Although I do enjoy aviation art because of my love of aviation.

I love Impressionism. Monet, Parliament:

MC Escher does some fantastic stuff. This is a favorite of mine, called Puddle:

Perhaps my favorite painter, though, is Edward Hopper. Most people know him for Nighthawks which was bastardized into Street of Broken Dreams with Elvis, Marilyn, and so forth. My favorites from Hopper have a similar vibe of almost desperate alienation.

Oh it's a puddle not a broken bridge. Very cool. You see how I don't get it?

RE: Art That You Like
I used to build custom art frames, managing a shop in SoCal. That's where I gained most of my knowledge of art -- which is still pretty limited. But what I loved about it was that I'd get home at the end of the day and pick up my guitar and try to make it sound like the colors in a painting I'd worked on that day -- "What would that green sound like if it were a noise?"

It was a great exercise in creativity, and learning art has definitely helped me grow as a musician.

The very Definition of Rennesaunce man. Inventor, sculptor, artist, and business man. His abilty to capture symetry and details many look over is spectacular.

Then there is Don Bluth!
