The probably impossible existence of anything.

I've read this whole thread and it's just an awful thread.
But it's like a car wreck I can't stop looking at.

Where's trainwreck when we need him?

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

When the hell do we 'need' him?

Umm... maybe you haven't heard but he's got this classification system...

Admittedly, trainwreck does seem willing to spin round and round beyond puking, the way Pachomius seems to like doing. Participating in futility has never impressed me.

Like seeing globular star clusters in action; wouldn't mind seeing one, wouldn't want to be one. Shy

I laughed out loud at that. That system is always good for a chuckle.

outside of the universe, I will continue further later; but you now, you
tell me what is your procedure to ultimately come to the idea that the
universe always exists.
What observations? And no one said 'self-originated'. Always means always - no creation.

I speculate that the universe or mass/energy have always been, you speculate that there is something outside the universe that created the universe, and that it is uncreated. Where is that somewhere? Where did it come from? What was your creator doing for all eternity before creating this universe?

And work on your tone - it is annoying, not amusing.

Glad that you are back, Chas; and Dom is away now.

Let us go into this issue of the origin of the universe together, because we are both interested to know.

I see that you are after what I call working together first to come to concurrence on concepts and principles.

That is very good!

Here, at the risk of repetition (which however in such a matter as coming to concurrence is never in excess provided it keeps co-thinkers on the issue all the time) is my thinking on the origin of the universe, namely:
  • A unique uncreated creator created the created universe.

And here is your proposition 1.
  • 1. The universe itself has always been.

The rest of you atheist guys can continue to write even though you don't contribute anything to come to a common piece of knowledge on the origin of the universe.

And if you guys anyone have a piece of thinking on the origin of the universe, just keep silent and read what Chas and I are going to work on this issue: first by way of exerting efforts to arrive at the concurrence of concepts and principles.

Or, Chas, you want to suggest a first step for us both to go into prior to coming to the meat of the issue on the origin of the universe?

Or you will just go away after shooting off slogans and cliches, and forgetting to think and write constructively in a cognitive manner instead of emotionally -- with a lot of heat which is dissipated to no useful purpose except to get unresolved things off your chest?

I await your reply to my proposal that we first work on coming to concurrence on concepts and principles.

So, we have here two propositions on the origin of the universe, one from Chas and one from yours truly, namely:
  • A unique uncreated creator created the created universe [ from Pachomius ].
  • 1. The universe itself has always been [ from Chas ].

And here are the terms to be concurred on as regards their meanings:
  • creation
  • universe
  • always
  • has been i.e. has existed = existence

Now, just hold your temper, and concentrate on this common effort to arrive at concurrence on concepts and principles.

What about principles?

May I propose that our very first principle is that we exist and we are certain we exist, is that all right with you?

But of course we have to first come to concurrence on what is existence.

Please forgive me, but that has always been my observation with atheists who are vocal: they have no system, they just go into slogans and cliches and anger or angry words, feeling so discriminated against and griping all the time; but to do some genuinely systematic thinking, that is always alien to them or they are fugitives from such an enterprise.

Even their mentors book sellers who make so much money laughing all the way to the bank, they have no system if you so much as try to find out what all those innumerable pages are all about: it is all slogans, cliches, and continuous gripping, as though slogans and cliches and angry words of griping are convincing the whole world about their advocacy.

Uncreated-creator-of-the-created-universe damn it!

A slam at Dom followed by the same old babble....I mean Babel.

At the risk of repetition...really? Too fucking late to be worrying about that at this point.

typed as quietly as I could, only screaming inside my head
