Demon rum! People just need to get past the effects of alcohol by not over-indulging, and gurgle, other gurgle, stuff.

On a serious note, I can kind of see where people in a dry enough desert environment would want to shun alcohol. They are already dehydrated enough, oftentimes. Alcohol would just make it worse. Plus, just think what a bitch it would be to set up a still, in a nomadic culture. Didn't stop the Catholics, though, did it? Rolleyes
