If man came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

It all depends on ones taste in music. Both play different types of drums. Tony plays a more classical jazz style while Buddy is more upbeat pop-y. And so to compare one to another is hard intend, especially when both are such brilliant drummers in their own right. If you were to press me for an answer though I would have to go with tony as his rythem is better and he plays better songs than Buddy as I do enjoy a good jazz song.

Hmmmm, not a bad try. But inaccurate. However I give you 7 out of 10. Smile

It was an unfair question.

The major difference is that Tony advanced the polyrhythmic possibilities of the drums. Not only that, Tony could play straight 8ths, ala rock music. Which is why he was able to form the band Lifetime. Buddy could not, which is why he hired the great session drummer Earl Palmer to play on his daughter, Cathy's solo pop recording.

Buddy was however the predominant drum soloist. In fact one of the greatest soloists, including all instruments, of the 20th century. Unequaled to this day. He was also the greatest big band drummer.

Not bad Muff's. Respect.

NOTE: Member, Tomasia uses this site to slander other individuals. He then later proclaims it a joke, but not in public.
I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.
