So he is a good example of showing that our real world can be a little more complicated than our moral standards and wishes.

And this is another example how Western style democracy (WSD) would interact with Chinese people. Also Singaporeans are not Chinese, but the cultures of both nations have the same root and are relatively similar, therefore can be used as an analogue.

WSD there is in Singapore, strict restrictions on freedom in both countries.

So if WSD is implemented in China:

(1) China is very like to fall apart.
(2) Chinese people will still act a lot like before, like Russia is still a polar bear even though the U.S.S.R fell apart 2 decades ago.

You've mentioned this fear of a WSD taking over china a few times now and dismiss it as causeing ruin were it to happen despite several examples of succes one being a direct neighbor of yours. India is the worlds largest democracy and is comming into it's own at roughly the same pace as China (more so economicaly less so politicaly) Of course the problem with reffering to WSD is there isnt just 1 model much like the diffrences between Soviet communism and Chinnese comunism.

Direct totaly democracy would probably never work in a country as large and varied as China. However most western states dont use direct democracy. American style Republic would probably work provided the millitary didnt form a junta. Parlimentary Democracy would be a disater too many splinter groups would form and anarchy would likly fall.

That being stated the liklyhood of any of those 3 happening any time soon is remote as it seems China is going to continue its evolution from a comunist state to some sort of quasi-socalist republic.

Don't get me started on India's democracy. And I won't. Time will tell who's the winner. I am pretty confident.

China has been on her way from half colony half feudalism to primary stage socialism (seemingly national capitalism). Communist state? That's just an illusion.

That's not fear. I just expressed my gladness. It's more like "Praise Marx ! Luckily we've been smart so far."

Ask a (GASP) CHINESE COMMUNIST ! ! !
Junyuan, I am curious. Does CCP have any interest in our exchanges in this thread?

You lost me with that one.

(not for the first time that I'm perplexed / confused / addled by the Chinese propensity for poetic phrases)

If I say not at all, this answer is easily proven wrong because it's too absolute.

If I say quite or very interested, this answer is totally boasting.

In a country where a middle school (grade 9) graduate could turn himself into a self-proclaimed walking deity and recruit victims nationwide, flee to the U.S. before police arrested him ... what we exchange here is rather insignificant.

I am lost too.

What do you mean by "interesting, yet again, to see the correlation between wish-thinking and fear / uncertainty about the future" ?

And what do you mean by "Chinese propensity for poetic phrases"? Any quote?
