Do you seriously think I am "9 parts communist, 1 part person"?

Dodgy

It was more a joke about the mistaken use of the word 'diluted' in place of 'deluded'. The possibility of a 'diluted' person struck me as funny.

I didn't notice that !

I could have enjoyed a lol ... poor eye sight ...

Yes they are.

"But some are more equal than others".

Muffsy, I reckon that you just haven't met your Chinese Mr Right yet.

(or should that be 2 x Mr Wong?)

Btw, I'm on my way to Aukland now.
Wellington tomorrow.

Put the kettle on, darling.

Coolio. What time does your Wellington flight get in? I can see the airport from the dinning room.

HU.Junyuan:

While my politics are very different from yours, I like the way you present them, and I approve of the spirit of your goals. Being a skeptic, I doubt the situation will ever come about where the communism you envision will be possible. But there was an American who had similar goals with similar requirements before they could be possible, a man by the name of Gene Roddenberry.

If those really are China's goals, then you are the only country in the world working toward moving Humanity to the stars, and if so, you're currently our only hope to get out of the cradle we call Earth.

We do not see much of China's space program. How aggressively is China pursuing making use of resources outside Earth's gravity well?

Asteroid mining FTW!

Ultimately whoever controls space controls the planet. The first government to build significant self sustaining infrastructure in space will control our future.

The picture shows that the mother corporation is buy shares of its sun corporation in HK 's stocks market, which is the giant group responsible for China's major space activities.

How aggressive is China in this pursuit? I don't know.

But as far as I can see, business is good.

Edit: And in China's Twelfth 5-year Plan (2011-2015), three Tiangong (Heavenly Palace) module launches were schedule (one done in 2011) in order to put up an small space laboratory. 4-5 Shenzhou (Holy Canoe) manned aircraft launches were also scheduled. Maybe a closer examination of the moon is also under way as an preparation for a possible future Chinese landing on the moon.

There is quite a lot of evidence indicating that the majority of Chinese do not live lavish lifestyles at all, and that the political members do live far better than the average citizen. The Chinese and U.S wealth disparities are identical, with the exception being that you have nearly two billion people.

You exercise a capitalist economy with very little federal measure, you will get nothing but wealth disparity.

Wealth disparity is pretty astonishing in China now, plus no property taxes, which is really weird in a socialist country, but also quite reasonable since people with vested interests don't want to give up what they've got. In fact they want more political powers, and have disguised they intentions under the beautiful slogans of "freedom", "human rights", "civil rights", "free speech", "religious freedom" and "constitution".

I really respect those dissidents who pursue the common good for the people at the cost of their own benefits, like the one carrying a bag standing in front of a line of marching tanks near the Tiananmen Square. Yet many famous dissidents are just running dogs with a fat salary for their dissident show, which is more of common sense under this wealth disparity circumstance. OK, I understand, that's business, good business especially in a 'authoritarian' country. Do they dare to put on similar shows in Mexico, where drug dealers demonstrate their power by street executions? That's some real authoritarian power.

This chart makes a compelling point that Chinese politicians are extremely wealthy

And if I'm to believe this article even the Chinese are very concerened with the status quo

The Chinese people are very concerned with the governmental corruption problem. Yet I didn't experience it that much. Three days ago I needed to purchase a train ticket which requires my photo ID which I had misplaced. I went to the police station to get a one-day-valid temporary ID. It took me less than 30 seconds and cost me not a cent. So from what I see, for governmental and legislative lower level branches which I had experience with, there may be unspoken rules, but not likely brazen corruption under daylight.

And I had higher expectations for U.S. Congress lobbyists. Really a shame ... wait, perhaps really good job for not getting caught by the media?

I would think that getting a train ticket without a problem is not the issue here. The numbers are in the billions of dollars for a relatively few individuals (89.9 billion divided by 70 indivduals is a staggering amount of money in the hands of a few). It's not the nickel and dime graft the chart is addressing!
