RE: Ask meh!
I posted on something that might give some insight into a lot of what was going on.
It's in this thread:

Weeelllll the Southern Baptists can get pretty worked up in their sermons, there's no doubt about that. The actual preaching can get pretty fiery sometimes. The difference though is that in fundamentalism, it doesn't stop at the sermon... it's pervasive... you live and breathe it all the time. In regular Baptist, after church it's still pretty gentle and cheerful even after a fiery sermon. But in fundamentalism? The sermon is only the beginning. Note that this is just a generalization, and that exceptions do exist.

Quote:What led you to start questioning your beliefs?
Certain realities of life and justice were not measuring up to what was "supposed to be" if God was really concerned about justice. Then I was about to debate with a girl online about a wife's rights within the marriage sexually and show her that yes, a wife DOES have sexual rights. Except I went through to look it up to show her and I saw that no, no the Bible does NOT grant women any sexual rights except to submit. No safewords involved. And then I saw where on one hand it's supposedly an abomination to shed innocent blood, but the spilling of innocent blood is just so RAMPANT (this is why I have that quote in my sig, actually).

Things weren't lining up.

I was abused by my husband who was a deacon. I was raped, and then we went to the pastor and his wife for counselling. The pastor said it was better for my husband to do that than to give into the temptation of the porn. My husband had a porn addiction. I can never measure up to those women. But it was always seen as my fault or responsibility to keep him sated, blah blah blah.

Well let's just say I had to run. So I got out. But I'm in a bad situation (not going there atm) and he is just rosy as can be with his $120K per year income. He's had the support and blessing of the church and apparently God.

So this is justice.

Now I'm not sure WHAT to think, and now I'm here.

That's not right, by any stretch of the imagination; love should not be a one-way street. Hug
