At the hospital
Yesterday about this time I began to experience severe chest pain, so bad that I asked my wife to take me to the hospital. The triage people in the ER put me on a fast track. I quickly got an EKG and the doctor said it was "probably" not a heart attack, but they kept me for the better part of 24 hours "to be sure". I'm back home now. They never did find out what caused the pain.

About two hours into my stay a man walked into my room. I assumed he was one of the doctors but he introduced himself as the hospital pastor.

"I'm an atheist," I told him. This did not seem to phase him, like he'd heard it before. He left his card and moved on.

Second incident. Almost a year ago I was in the hospital diagnosed with anemia. They said I had lost half my blood supply and my blood pressure was down to 65 over 40. With numbers like that I was surprised to still be alive.

Anyway, a woman carrying a clip board walked into my room and asked "Do you have any religious objections to any form of medical treatment?" That question scared me. I gave the same answer, "I'm an atheist".

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Glad you're home and feeling better. For some reason the religious think our requests for no religion are some kind of joke and think we're just kidding. It baffles them.

It's odd that hospitals have voodoo men...
Hope you feel better.

What about non-religious objections? Like don't keep me on life support if I'm brain dead.

Also, glad you're doing better. Let's hope it doesn't happen again. Hug

Atheism is the only way to truly be free from sin.
