Atheism Isn't Popular
Collecting statistics through www.whatdoestheinternetthink.net, you can see for yourself how unpopular atheism is on the internet as a whole...

Atheism - 74.9% negative
Atheists - 92.9% negative
Murder - 47.8% negative
Child Porn - 91% negative
Child Molestation - 81.4% negative
Rapists - 57.3% negative
Necrophilia - 65.6% negative
Christianity - 30.3% negative
Christians - 46.5% negative
Mormons - 65.2% negative
Scientologists - 79.1%

I had always presumed that Atheists were perceived better on the internet than in real life, but I guess it's a myth like the idea of "liberal media". Atheists are seen more negatively than child porn and molesting, rape, necrophilia, and murder (and genocide by a huge margin). Christians don't get quite the same criticism on the internet, faring positively overall (you can also see how many people are positive/indifferent about these topics). Even Scientologists, a branch of religion that has done evil and destructive things in this country in the name of their god, are seen more positively than atheists. It's unbelievable.

I dare you to find a topic that the internet hates more than atheists.

My girlfriend is mad at me. Perhaps I shouldn't have tried cooking a stick in her non-stick pan.

RE: Atheism Isn't Popular
This is an interesting site, I would like to know how this data is collected/evaluated. Some more stats:

Atheist 62.5% negative
Humanist 15% (83.2% positive)

Muslim 78.7% negative
Allah 9.6% (90.2% negative)

Jew 97.2% negative
Yahweh 0.5% (99.2% negative)

Obama 77.9% negative
Romney 75.2% negative
Bush 81.7% negative
Clinton 59.2% negative
Reagan 77.6% negative
Carter 61.5% negative
JFK 4.1% negative (95.7% positive)

Churchill 2.3% negative
Roosevelt 7.5% negative /Truman 0.4% negative
Stalin 13.7% negative
Mussolini 29.4% negative
Hitler 63.6% negative

NSA 81.3% negative

Israel 16.3% negative (72.3% positive)
Palestine 23% negative (40.8% indifferent, 36.2% Positive)

Internet 56.8% negative

Big Bang 2.6% negative (97.2% positive) * TV show?
Evolution 89.4% negative

Breaking Bad 5% negative (94.7 positive)

I wouldn't be surprised if Atheist is generally considered a negative word...People think we are know it all dick heads. Everyone hates someone more educated and higher minded then they are. They hate being wrong or stupid and they blame the messenger. The right has vilified the pursuit of knowledge, they want to paint us as 'intellectuals in our ivory towers' when in reality gathering knowledge is an undeniably humbling experience.

I ask myself if it isn't our fault as individuals for not mingling with theists to attempt to change the preconceived notion that atheism is wrong...

RE: Atheism Isn't Popular
According to those first page stats, people view child pornography more negatively than physical child molestation.

This seems like a poll in which someone was asked to rank these from worst to least worst.
I find it hard to believe that 20% of people are in favor of child molestation.

I was thinking that it is a web robot that reads webpages and loosely evaluates the context in which words are used.

Or 43 % favor rape.
They need to concurrently ask, "do you actually personally know an atheist, and if so do you view them negatively, (and why) ?"

I'm not surprised - less atheists than theists on the internet. It's the internet after all; a fucked up representation of a fucked up world.

Take these statistics with a grain of salt, Cheap. They don't seem too terribly reliable, accurate, or even have large enough sample to properly gauge what the opinions of people are.

Atheism is also more popular than the Catholic Church, Jeffrey Dahmer, Vlad the Impaler and Caligula.
However, Josef Stalin is twice as popular as atheism, and Dracula, (who IS Vlad the Impaler) is three times as popular than atheism. Sadaam Hussein is more popular than atheism. Atheism is way more popular than Carol Burnett, which is shocking.
Mitt Romney is more popular than Hillary Clinton ?? So they're all BS. That can't be true.
Go figure.
