Atheist / Agnostic Informational Resource Library
This is a community project to build a helpful resource on a variety of topics that are of interest to Atheists, Agnostics, Skeptics, Freethinkers, Secular Humanists or Non Religious people. This is an ongoing project, all contributors and contributions are welcome! Together we can build a great resource for people regardless of whether or not they have been atheists their whole lives, or are just starting to come to terms with their disbelief. When I was first starting to learn about my atheism I had to start from nothing, and it has taken a long time to learn about all of the resources that are out there for us. In this thread I hope to compile a quick start guide on a variety of subjects in a variety of different media, but I need your help!
If you find any documentaries, please post them in this thread. Also, if you happen to know of, or find any sites that could assist in debunking, or at least raising very serious concerns about various beliefs or religions, that would also be great. Some of the videos are more useful for a general overview, rather than for use in debunking, or questioning religious claims. It is always important to look at the sources for the information that is presented, or to do your own research to either confirm or refute anything that has been put forward. A good video to watch that will give you a place to start is Michael Shermer's Baloney Detection Kit. I would also suggest starting off with Potholer54's video discussing editing tricks, before watching documentaries. Even if the documentary says something that you agree with, it is possible that editing tricks are used to make the religious or religions look worse. A good place to start: Michael Shermer: Baloney Detection Kit Quotes and Cutaways Quotes and Cutaways (UK and Ireland version) Apps Atheism 101 (iPhone, iPod Touch) Atheist Pocket Debater (iPhone, iPod Touch) Creationist Claims Index (iPhone, iPod Touch) Blogs: Bad Astronomy Freethought Blogs (Numerous atheist bloggers hosted on this site, but I will just link to the main site.) RE: Collection of religious documentaries, and information
TruthSurge has a playlist of his own videos that look into the context and alterations of the New Testament. Very interesting stuff (and it's still being updated with more parts).

RE: Collection of religious documentaries, and information
I thought that that thread would turn into a TL;DR, so I didn't read most of it. Thanks for the link to your post though Bucky! That's pretty much what I wanted to start with this thread. I know that Seth has a resource page on the main part of the site, but I wanted this one to be more in depth. I think that it would also be nice to post links to podcasts, or religious debates. Sometimes trying to learn by reading isn't as easy as learning by watching and listening.
Thanks for the contributions thus far, please continue if you have any more! ![]() EDIT: First post has been edited to include the submitted links. |
