RE: Atheist and country music. Please help!
Replace "God" with Bob or Fred or something. Find a 2-syllable name you like to sub in for Jesus. Most of the time the names aren't the rhyming words and renaming the characters won't change the flow of the music (but it might add a little edge of unintended comedy).

Like those who commented before me, I also prefer outlaw country but can't get outlaw radio on my FM dial in the car, so I just put up with the pandering because the tunes they play still hit the spot. Hard to avoid country music where I grew up, what a shame for my senses that it's full of so much God this, Jesus that!

Seems to be a lot of worrying over nothing.

I play a lot of blues music, which often features religiously inspired lyrics. I generally don't bother with the overtly Christian songs, since they are more gospel hymns anyway, but the occasional reference to Jesus or God doesn't bother me in the slightest.
