Atheist flag, motto, hymn, oath and symbol
So, I was wondering why the burgeoning atheist movement does not have any of the above. Being motivated by concern for the bumper-sticker industry, I took it upon myself to come up with some suggestions:

1. Atheist flag:

High-brow: A white backgorund (a tabula rasa, indicating no preconceived notions) with a black question mark in the middle, representing our question-all mentality

Low-brow: Skull and cross-bones representing our no quarter given mentality.

2. Atheist motto:

High-brow: Sola scientia or sola intellectus

Low-brow: Gods? Gods? We don't need no stinkin' gods!

3. Atheist hymn:
(Words to be determined by consensus)

O, humanity!
Blah, blah, blah, blah!
Something, something, something, sooooome-thing,
Tom-tiddly om-pom-pom!

Being the herd of cats that we are, could be sung to any tune and tempo.

4. Atheist oath:

I pledge allegiance to reason and to the progress it fosters.
One paradigm to govern our behavior
With liberty and justice for all.

I put "paradigm" in there to make it sound trendy.

5. Symbol:

A stylized light-bulb?

Ideas? Suggestions? Put-downs?

Putting on flame-retardant under-garments and clicking submit...now.

That's oddly reminiscent of the Ank-Morpork anthem.

That would be Ankh-Morpork. Smartass

Here are the lyrics for everyone who isn't familiar with Terry Pratchett's novels:

When dragons belch and hippos flee
My thoughts, Ankh-Morpork, are of thee
Let others boast of martial dash
For we have boldly fought with cash
We own all your helmets, we own all your shoes
We own all your generals - touch us and you'll lose.

Morporkia! Morporkia!
Morporkia owns the day!
We can rule you wholesale
Touch us and you'll pay.

We bankrupt all invaders, we sell them souvenirs
We ner ner ner ner ner, hner ner hner by the ears
Er hner we ner ner ner ner ner
Ner ner her ner ner ner hner the ner
Er ner ner hner ner, nher hner ner ner (etc.)
Ner hner ner, your gleaming swords
We mortgaged to the hilt

Morporkia! Morporkia!
Hner ner ner ner ner ner
We can rule you wholesale
Credit where it's due.

Is that a motto, hymn or oath? Is the emoticon an integral part of it?

RE: Atheist flag, motto, hymn, oath and symbol
I think Eric Idle & Terry Jones have already written our hymn:
(to the tune of the Anglican hymn "All Things Bright and Beautiful ")

All things dull and ugly,
All creatures short and squat,
All things rude and nasty,
The Lord God made the lot.

Each little snake that poisons,
Each little wasp that stings,
He made their brutish venom.
He made their horrid wings.

All things sick and cancerous,
All evil great and small,
All things foul and dangerous,
The Lord God made them all.

Each nasty little hornet,
Each beastly little squid--
Who made the spikey urchin?
Who made the sharks? He did!

All things scabbed and ulcerous,
All pox both great and small,
Putrid, foul and gangrenous,
The Lord God made them all.

Amen.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

Yeah, that is totally already the hymn.

And if that's the hymn, this is the song (I'm assuming we can have both a song and a hymn)...

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...

...always look on the bright side
of life...
(Whistle)

Always look on the light side
of life...
(Whistle)

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle
- that's the thing.
And...always look on the bright
side of life...
(Whistle)

Come on.

Always look on the right side
of life...
(Whistle)

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain
with a bow
Forget about your sin - give the
audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance
anyhow.

So always look on the bright side
of death...
(Whistle)

a-Just before you draw your terminal breath...
(Whistle)

Life's a piece of shit, when you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true
You'll see its all a show, keep 'em laughin as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you

And...
Always look on the bright side
of life...
(Whistle)

Always look on the right side
of life...

C'mon Brian, cheer up

Always look on the bright side
of life...

Always look on the bright side
of life...

Worse things happen at sea you know.

I mean - what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
- you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing.

Always look on the right side
(I mean) of life...

what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
- you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost?

Always (Nothing.) look on the right side of life...

Nothing will come from nothing ya know what they say?
Cheer up ya old bugga c'mon give us a grin!
There ya go, see!

Always look on the right side of life...
(Cheer up ya old bugga c'mon give us a grin! At same time)

There ya go, see!

In all seriousness, I like the question mark flag.
