Atheist register.
This was originally posted on the thinking atheist Facebook page but I think it's worth reposting on the forums. here

Basically a 'pastor' called Michael Stahl ( he's not even a real pastor he has no congregation. He's a Christian with a computer) has suggested that an organization and website be created called "The Christian National Registry of Atheists" that would keep track of atheists so that "they can be proselytize to and their businesses can be boycotted".

He compaire's us To “convicted sex offenders , ex-convicts , terrorist cells , hate groups like the KKK , skinheads , radical Islamists"
I know being compaired to these groups is nothing new for atheists.

There are plenty of Christians who can be described like that. Has anyone suggested a national register for them?

I suggest we start a national register for crazy Christians who own computers or T.N.R.F.C.C.W.O.C for short (I know it takes longer to say than the full name). This will save the general public from having to deal with these ridiculous ideas By having the register we can prevent ideas like earthquakes and hurricane Irene being messages from god (Michele Bachmann) or the rapture happening this year despite having failed to occur all the previous times it had been predicted.
Here's an idea Michael Stahl how about you stop pretending you're a pastor, switch of the computer go outside and join the real world.

RE: Atheist register.
Maybe we should just go to that site and sign us op voluntarily and sign with our name and "Christian Blacklisting has nothing on proud atheism!"

RE: Atheist register.
We could turn it into a way of meeting other atheists. Like an atheist dating site all completely funded by crazy Christians.

RE: Atheist register.
Yeah I saw this first thing this morning and I couldn't help but think that this was the final line being drawn. Not only could we use this as a way of meeting each other and supporting our businesses but we could use it as a way of saying I'm atheist so what'cha gonna do about it? Also it sure helps our argument that morals do not come from the bible doesn't it?

This guy needs to register at a psych ward.

RE: Atheist register.
Don't you guys often feel as if you were trapped in a lunatic asylum?

Reminds me of a poem:

Why?

Why am I trying to say
what so many already said
so much better,
so many times?
Our world is doomed,
and we, who can see it,
are not heard -
we must be mute…
…or the others all deaf.

A truth,
a conviction
needs decades of searching,
thinking, analyzing
to form, crystallize
into knowledge.
You can’t share it
with anyone
who has not traveled
the same path…
…and yet, we try.

Maybe we write
for each other,
to help us feel
we’re not alone,
there are others, our kind,
almost another species
dispersed on the planet…
…as if we were expelled
from our homeland,
for some horrible crime.

We sing ballads,
spin yarn,
write poems, plays, essays,
philosophize
from soap boxes
or thunder from pulpits,
trying to be heard,
to set their souls on fire…
…all we ever do is:
preach to the choir.

Tell Anon he's selling names to governments of something, they'll sort him out.

Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

He seems a bit small time for them to bother about. Plus it would just give him an excuse to push forward with his idea and considering how stupid some politicians are it might just be an idea they take onboard.

I wrote it on one of my more pessimistic days. Sad
