RE: Atheists for Bernie Sanders
I think calling folks ignorant for attacking your candidate is pretty fail. They may well have honest objections.

Really a long serving Senator with a track record of progressive accomplishments is the same as a blowhard who is just using an election as an ego stroke?

Yes. Sanders is not going to be the nominee--no way, no how. And he has said same very kooky things over his career that will get lots of attention if he ever made it (reported recently in the NY Times, no less, http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/04/us/pol....html?_r=0 ).

Neither party has a credible economic strategy, and both parties will be beholden to big money, so I vote based on the social policies endorsed by each platform…and I'm female. So I kind of have to vote for the Democratic party, and I want a candidate who is stronger than Sanders and less tarnished ethically than Clinton. Doesn't look like I'm going to get my preference, though.

He beat out a dozen other candidates to come neck and neck with Clinton. I actually worry far more if Hillary wins the nomination. She is beatable by Jeb Bush; Sanders would be a nightmare opponent for the GOP.

In a sense I agree with you here(first time for everything). If Hillary gets the nomination, the GOP wins. She really is a crappy candidate and now she has a lot of baggage. If Sanders gets it....I'm not so sure.

I think Hillary gets the nom though.....which is too bad for the demotards. I think the party leaders feel they have to give her a shot and won't realize how much of a dog she is until it is too late.

Hillary is the stronger of the two candidates, no doubt about it. Sanders would be an electoral disaster. As a bonafide socialist, combined with his eccentric commentary over the year, he would be "othered" to death in the general election. He would be the Dem's crazy grandpa running for office.

That said, Hillary is a somewhat weak presumptive nominee due to the baggage she carries with her into the race. But never misunderestimate (to borrow a term from GWB) a Clinton. If she's the nominee, she has a fair shot of winning the general election. Short of someone new entering the race at the last minute, though, the Dem nomination is hers to lose.

Hillary is the Dems Mitt Romney. If she is the candidate the Dems lose the white house and we end up in a theocracy via the Supreme Court invalidating the 1st amendment's separation of church and state.

I see some people attacking Bernie Sanders on here but I can't believe that a majority of Atheists would be that ignorant. I know Seth is conservative and being liberal does not go hand in hand with Atheism of course, but still I think a majority of Atheists are also free-thinkers and liberal.

Anyway I am a member of Atheists for Bernie on Facebook and thought I'd make mention of it here too. Even if you do lean a bit on the wrong (opposite of left, liberal) side you still may want to take a serious look at voting for Bernie Sanders. He may not totally represent your views, but he is perhaps the only secular candidate that has any serious chance of becoming President. Now technically he is considered Jewish simply because if you are born Jewish then you are considered Jewish regardless of if you actually believe in the Jewish religion or not. Bernie falls into the category of "Secular Jew" though, which would be much like someone in the US that uses the term "Christian" but doesn't read the bible, go to church, pray, or want religion to dominate. Frankly I can't blame Bernie for going ahead and wearing the Jewish title any more that I could blame people for wearing the title "Christian" in order to avoid being attacked and disowned for not accepting those titles. Lets be honest, would someone that actually wears the title of Atheist actually have a chance of winning the highest office in the USA? Certainly not in this decade, maybe in fifty years.

Anyway this is just my 2nd post ever on this site and maybe a chance to get some conversation going with fellow Atheists.

Correctly to say: Atheists for communism! or socialism!

atheist cactus is socialist/communist.
why am I not surprised?

She's also probably the best Dem candidate currently running. The GOP was pretty much in the same position with Romney. He was the default/leftover position for the nomination as one by one the other candidates dropped.
